Anime adaptations are almost always a good thing, especially if they’re based on manga series that deserve this attention. After all, there’s no denying that manga sales go through the roof when their anime adaptations end up being really excellent in their own right. However, there are times when promising manga doesn’t end up receiving the adaptations they deserve, which can be quite a shame.

The following anime adaptations were pulling from some truly excellent source material but ended up rushing through the plot so quickly that it lost all of its potential in one fell sweep. Fans can only wonder how different things could’ve been if these excellent manga series were done justice with their respective anime.
10Akame Ga Kill!
Akame ga Kill!started off on a strong note with the first episode establishing the dark nature of this world. However, the anime bit off more than it could chew over the course of its 24-episode run.
As a result, the pacing of this anime was all over the place. It didn’t help that this anime spoiled events in the manga, withthe latter having better pacing and spacing out its story in a more cohesive manner.
9The Promised Neverland
The first season ofThe Promised Neverlandwas a blast to witness. Seeing the dark nature of the world and the manner in which the orphans have to escape their plight made for a riveting watch.
The brilliance of the first season is what made the second season so horrible to watch in comparison. The manga is absolutely blasted through with little finesse, with important plot points being dealt with in a completely amateurish manner.
8Tower Of God
Crunchyroll made the admirable decision to adapt many popular manhwa as anime. However, the execution of all three major projects has been sorely lacking.

Perhaps the one that hurts the most isTower of God. The manhwa is absolutely incredible, and it’s a shame that the anime’s pacing is so rushed despite the series having some amazing animation highlights.
7Tokyo Ghoul:re
Tokyo Ghoul’s first season was absolutely brilliant and did justice to the source material. The only place where it messed up was an anime-original ending… and that’s when all the problems started.
Tokyo Ghoul:reis the much-maligned second season that rushed through most plot points in the manga with little to no finesse. What made this even worse was that Tokyo Ghoul √Asettled for anime-original content that is simply horrible.
6Deadman Wonderland
Deadman Wonderlandis another anime that started out on a strong note. However, it failed to introduce a pivotal character and turned into a mess by the end of its run.
As a result, any possibility of a second season is pretty minuscule. The manga is the only way for fans to get the full picture of what happens in this truly engaging series.
5A Silent Voice
The movie ofA Silent Voiceis pretty great and does a great job oftugging at a viewer’s emotional heartstrings. However, as is the case with most movie adaptations, there are some parts of the manga that are cut out to justify the runtime of this movie.
It’s not the worst example of an anime rushing through the manga on this list, but it still warrants a spot on this list. The movie is a decent watch, but people who like this story should definitely read the manga to get the full picture.
4Domestic Girlfriend
One of the funnier shows on this list,Domestic Girlfriendhas a pretty engaging setting that would capture most people’s attention. However, while the manga retains a sense of hilarity while expanding on its riveting characters, the anime throws most of this story out of the window.
Certain arcs are outright skipped andmost comedic momentsare replaced with more somber scenes. As a result, this great watch turns into a fairly tepid experience by the end.
3ReLIFE
ReLIFEalso has a pretty interesting premise where a 27-year-old unemployed person isgiven a second chance to amend his waysafter a serum de-ages him by ten years. This makes for a funny and poignant story… that the anime completely ruined with its breakneck pace.

The seventeen episodes (with four of them being OVAs) try to adapt almost 220 chapters! Anyone could’ve guessed that this was a fool’s errand, withReLIFEfailing to do justice to its source material as a result.
2The God Of High School
Another manhwa that was rushed through like mad,The God of High Schoolis easily one of the biggest disappointments on this list. After all, the source material does a brilliant job of contextualizing its fights to make them pretty exciting and fun to watch.
However, for some reason, the anime decided to focus exclusively on its fights without giving the characters any breathing room in between. This results in an extremely rushed show wherebattles take precedence over character development, which really hurts the series.
1Noblesse
The holy trinity of rushed manhwa adaptations is rounded off withNoblesse, which could’ve been a great series but turned out to be a massive disappointment. The plot turns into a paper-thin imitation of the source material that changes everything from the setting of the story to the personality of the characters as well.
The fact that each arc almost blends into each other due to this repetitive storytelling is what really hurts this anime. On top of this,the animation ofNoblesseisn’t nearly as good as the other two webtoon adaptations, which feels like a slap in the face for fans of this series.
