On Twitter, House representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez announced not only that she has achieved the Silver 3 rank inLeague of Legendsbut also reveals which champion she mains.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, oftentimes shorthanded as AOC, serves in the U.S. House of Representatives from New York’s 14th district. She assumed office in January of 2019, defeating a ten-year incumbent and a Republican opponent in the process. AOC was quickly met with heavy criticism, mostly from the right-wing, because she worked as a bartender and waitress until she ran for Congress in 2018. Younger minds, on the other hand, look up to her as the youngest Congresswoman ever, taking her seat at only 29 years old. And asan active player ofLeague of Legends, AOC continues to be in the eyes of the younger generations.

And even House reps are making personal accomplishments during quarantine, it seems. With a substantial Twitter following of 7.5 million users,AOC announced her promotionto the silver division inLeague of Legends, now increasing to rank Silver 3. When asked “What role” does she main, AOC cleverly responds “my role is to support the people,” a play on Sona being a support mage. Sona is her main, she reports to her Twitter followers, but she also actively plays Janna, Lux, and Morg. “Working on my Lulu,” she says, “but it’s not ready for prime time yet.”
Making it to Silver rank 3 puts her at the top 59.6% of competitive players, but she’s still certainly the highest-ranking out of any politician currently holding office. And perhaps her intentions don’t run this deep, but showing off her accomplishments toLeague of Legendsfanboys could quite possibly make her even more popular with the younger generations come election seasons. Maybe, one day, gamers will even get to see her stream some matches while she speaks on political reform.
This isn’t the only gaming activity AOC has done during the Covid-19 pandemic. Back in May,AOC visitedAnimal Crossing: New Horizonsplayers on their islands, reaching a completely different genre of gamers. After purchasing a Switch so she could try out the game, she even asked players if she could leave doodles or notes on players' bulletin boards.
