With lots of ground to cover, and the series being a live-action adaptation of the comic storyline of the same name, fans are no doubt very excited to see what the series has in store. While Marvel continually delivers, there are specific things that fans will be hoping to see in the show when it eventually releases. There were a number of greatMCUshows and movies in 2021, and 2022 is set to increase the frequency.
6Endgame Fallout
So far, all theMCUshows have featured fallout from the events ofAvengers: Endgame, usually focusing on the Blip. WhileArmor Warsseems to be focused on Tony Stark’s tech being obtained or stolen, there may still be a way for the events ofEndgameto factor in.Endgamedidn’t just supply fans withhilariousAvengersmemes, it delivered gut-punching emotional scenes that are still being explored.
Perhaps the government or whoever is stealing Stark’s tech is doing it under the pretense of protecting against any possible future alien incursions. Either way, fans will be hoping for more expansion on the fallout of Endgame similar to how previous shows such asThe Falcon and the Winter SoldierandHawkeyehave.
5Robert Downey Jr Cameo
With Rhodes being Stark’s best friend, they had a lot to do with each other over the course of Stark’s life. A lot of their shared missions went on off-screen and were simply referenced in scenes where they were together. TheArmor Warsseries deals with Rhodes' grief over Stark’s death, paving the way for a Tony Stark flashback cameo.

While Robert Downey Jr has said in the past he won’t reprise his role in theMCUagain, fans will be hoping that he can be convinced to come back even for a little cameo. They could even use adeletedMCUsceneand do a bit of creative editing to make it appear new. It would tie into the story, allow the audience to connect with Rhodes' grief more, and give us a surprise glimpse at fan-favorite Iron Man.
4Justin Hammer Return
Justin Hammer appeared inIron Man 2, but a section of fans was disappointed, believing he should have had more screen time and been used more effectively. Since then, Hammer appeared in the one-shotAll Hail the Kingbut has never returned for a movie since. A weapons manufacturing rival to Tony Stark, there is a lot of ground to cover with the character that could be explored in theArmor Warsseries. While Hammer isn’t exactly asympatheticMCUvillain, he’s an entertaining one.
Hammer appears in theArmor Warscomic, attempting to obtain Stark Industries and managing to recreate Stark’s Iron Man suits due to the Spymaster giving him the designs. Since a lot of the other characters featured in theArmor Warscomic haven’t yet made theirMCUdebut, it may be a good idea for the show to utilize Hammer and have him be the main villain of the series.
3Ant-Man Involvement
Scott Lang / Ant-Man assists Tony Stark / Iron Man in theArmor Warscomics, helping him find out who stole his suit designs that were eventually given to Justin Hammer. Since Stark is dead in theMCU, and Rhodes and Lang know each other from theAvengersfilms andCivil War, it would be great to see Lang appear inArmor Wars. Lang is avery powerful Marvel comic characterbut has yet to replicate this in theMCU.

With Tony dead, the series is obviously going to deviate from the comics storyline it adapts, but having Rhodes take the place of Stark’s actions in the comics and having Lang take Rhodes place in the comics could be a good way to go. It will add a buzz to the series and fans have already seen how effective two superheroes can be in a show viaWandaVisionandThe Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
2Plenty Of Dogfights
TheIron Manfilms had great moments where both Iron Man and War Machine take on villainous robots, with lots of room for explosive aerial fighting. Rhodes has been operating as War Machine for over a decade in theMCU, battling terrorist cells, demi-Gods, and alien invasions, so it is expected that he’s picked up a few tricks throughout his career.
TheArmor Warsseries will likely feature plenty of aerial dogfight scenes, and fans will be hoping that these scenes are a step-up on the aerial fighting scenes that have featured in theMCUso far, as the dogfights are a big part of why certainMCU movies hold up on rewatches.
1Main Character Dilemma
The shows have all had thematic similarities in showing the main, often titular character having a dilemma that they must work through over the course of the series. Wanda for instance was stuck on whether to free the people of Westview or continue living her fantasy of having a family with Vision. Sam/ The Falcon was unsure of whether to take up the mantle of Captain America or continue as the Falcon. Rhodes is anMCUcharacter that deserves better, so hopefully, the series expands on his character.
The War Machine film that was in development as early as 2011was said by Cheadleto be about Rhodes having “tension between his job as a military man and his allegiances to the code that he swore an oath to uphold, versus the changing world”. TheArmor Warscomics are about Stark’s tech being stolen, which the series will undoubtedly focus on just with the difference of Stark not being there to protect it. Fans will be hoping to see Rhodes having and facing a dilemma between whether to help protect Stark’s tech or stand by the government and do nothing unless he is told to.
