Over the past week, it’s been a bit of a rollercoaster ride for Ubisoft regarding its anticipated game,Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. The cinematic reveal trailer initially dazzled the community revealing main protagonist Eivor and his Vikings taking part in a large battle with theAnglo-Saxon army in 9th century England. Things turned a bit last week when a promised gameplay reveal was much smaller and limited than people thought. Now, a bit more bad news may sour a few more fans.
According to a recent interview, a Ubisoft spokesperson gave an update on a recent benchmark test forAssassin’s Creed Valhallawhile running on the Xbox Series X. Shockingly, the person revealed that the company could guarantee that the game would be running at least in 30 frames per second.

The news may come as a bit of a shock as Microsoft has previously made it clear that the 60 frames per second is going to be the default standard for the Xbox Series X, thoughrecently hinted that it’s not required. Still, it’s not clear as to why Ubisoft can’t guarantee thatAssassin’s Creed Valhallawill reach that framerate milestone. One theory starting to make the rounds is that this is a result from the game being developed to exist on both current and next gen consoles.
Outside of the framerate, the person also gave a bit more information on thenext generation version of the gameand technologies being utilized. Ubisoft confirmed they continue to work with Microsoft to take advantage of the new technology inside of the Xbox Series X which will result in the game getting much faster load times, improved graphics, and 4k resolution.
While the news is a bit unfortunate, Ubisoft hasn’t outright closed the door on getting to 60 FLS. There’s still a few months left before the game hits store shelves, so things could absolutely change as Ubisoft continues to work on the game. As to when that may be, speculation and rumors continue to arise including one from a small local shop who may haveaccidentally revealed the game’s launch date early. A pre-order sign listed the game’s launch date as October 16 before it was quickly removed a short time later and replaced with a more general 2020 date.
