Summary
Don’t Nod Entertainment has revealed all the changes coming toBanishers: Ghosts of New Edenwith its latest 1.4 update, which includes fixes to combat, quests, photo mode and more.Banishers: Ghosts of New Edenis one of developer Don’t Nod Entertainment’s more AAA-style projects, similar to its 2018 outing,Vampyr. Having been released back in February, the game received positive reception for its storytelling and dual protagonists, Banishers Antea Duarte and Red mac Raith.
Banishers: Ghosts of New Edensets players in late 1600s North America and follows the story of two Banishers as they attempt to rid the town and surrounding areas of New Eden of a nasty curse. From forests to beaches, to swamps and snowy mountains, players meet a number of haunted NPCs and are tasked with Haunting Cases, which result in the player deciding to either blame the living or banish the dead. Like with many of Don’t Nod’s games, these choices have a profound impact on the outcome of the game and thefate of the two Banishers.
Don’t Nod revealed the contents ofBanishers: Ghosts of New Eden’s new 1.4 update in aFocus Forum post, highlighting all the changes set to come to the ghost-hunting action-adventure game. Topping the list are someadjustments toBanishers' combat, namely changes to the behavior of particular enemies that can easily overwhelm the player when attacking in conjunction with certain other enemy types. Another bug that prevented enemies from following players or stuck them in an invisible state has been fixed as well. Finally, Update 1.4 also addresses a UI glitch that falsely claims that players are unable to swap their pieces of equipment in the menu.
Banishers' 1.4 update also clears up some issues with blocked quest progression and buggy quest markers. Climbing walls, ledges, and ropes is abig part of the exploration inBanishers, and the patch also takes care of some undesirable issues in relation to traversing the game’s environments. One of the game’s Achievements also receives a fix in this new patch. The Full Potency Achievement, awarded to players who reach the game’s max level of 25, has been stabilized and should now unlock for players who’ve met the requirement. Update 1.4 also includes an array of fixes to the game’s cinematics, dialogue, photo mode, visuals, audio, menus, and more.
Banishers: Ghosts of New Edenseemed to have initially been released in a solid technical state. With that in mind, Don’t Nod may not need to provide many more updates to the game. WithBanishersout the door, Don’t Nod is surely looking ahead to its next game, theLife is Strange-likeLost Records: Bloom and Rage, which is expected sometime this year. It’s possible that fans of the developer may learn more at some point this summer, perhaps atSummer Game Fest in June.
