Kaveh made a brief appearance in the Sumeru Archon Quest and Alhaitham’s Story Quest, where he showcased his charming personality as Alhaitham’s roommate. Fans have eagerly anticipated his playable debut, and the 3.6 update ofGenshin Impacthas finally granted their wish. As a 4-star Dendro Claymore user, Kaveh’s role is to serve as a Dendro core enabler by infusing his normal attacks with Dendro through his Elemental Burst and detonating these cores with his Elemental Skill and Burst. His kit makes him a valuable addition to any team focused on Bloom-related Dendro reactions.

As Kaveh is mainly intended for use in Bloom teams with an on-field function, some players may be disappointed that he doesn’t have more synergy with Alhaitham. However, Kaveh’s kit allows for a wide range of team options. While most of his teams will inevitably focus on Bloom, players can also utilize him in Hyperbloom or even Burgeon teams to add a unique twist to his play style. This makes Kaveh a versatile and interesting addition to theGenshin Impactroster.
Kaveh and Nilou Teams
In general, Kaveh excels in Bloom reactions and can easily detonate them regardless of the Dendro core enabler. Furthermore, the damage of these reactionsscales with Kaveh’s Elemental Masteryand talent level. Unlike Nilou, who is limited to utilizing Dendro and Hydro characters in a team, Kaveh has more flexibility and can work with a variety of character options depending on what players have available. Additionally, Kaveh and Nilou synergize well together as Kaveh can also explode Bountiful Cores despite their different Dendro core explosion times. However, they are not mandatory to be used together.

If players wish to utilize both Kaveh and Nilou in a team composition, anideal setup would require a Dendro characterto assist with Dendro application and another Hydro character to aid in Nilou’s Hydro application, as well as enable both elemental resonances for additional buffs. There are several suitable Dendro enabler options, including Nahida, Baizhu, Yaoyao, and Dendro Traveller, while Ayato, Yelan, Xingqiu, and Kokomi arewell-suited for Hydro applicationand can synergize with the team. In these team compositions, Kaveh will be the primary on field character.
Kaveh + Nilou + Nahida + Kokomi
Nahida, the Dendro Archon, is a powerful and easy-to-use characterfor Dendro reactions, especially for Bloom reactions. For players who have access to Nahida, this team composition can be ideal. Nahida’s Elemental Skill can mark multiple enemies, triggering the tri-karma purification easily when the bloom explosions are instant. This results in consistent Dendro application and additional damage from Nahida’s Elemental Skill with each explosion. Her Elemental Burst also increases the active team member’s Elemental Mastery, consequently boosting Kaveh’s Dendro core explosion damage. Additionally, if players have unlocked Nahida’s second constellation, the bloom reactions can also crit, making her an even more excellent option for the team.
Kokomi takes on the role of secondary Hydro enabler and healer. Although Kaveh has self-healing within his kit, there may be instances where it is not enough to keep him alive. Moreover, other team members like Nahida can also take significant damage while on the field. Therefore, having a healer in a teamwhere active characters can self-damage from bloom reactions is highly recommended, although not mandatory.
Kaveh + Nilou + Baizhu + Yelan
For players who don’t have access to Nahida, there are still many options available to createconsistent Dendro reactionswith high damage. One of these options is to utilize Baizhu as the Dendro character in the team. In addition to his ability to heal and shield, which is convenient for Bloom reactions, his passive ability can also be used to buff Dendro reactions. When Baizhu’s Elemental Burst creates a seamless shield that heals the active character, the damage of reactions is increased based on his HP. This makes him an excellent choice for players who are looking to create strong Bloom reactions.
Another important character in this team composition is Yelan, whose role is to assist Nilou with Hydro application. By attacking the enemy with each of Kaveh’s normal attacks, Yelan can consistently apply the Hydro element, creating more Dendro cores and consequently increasing the overall damage dealt by the team.
Kaveh Flexible Bloom Teams
Kaveh is a versatile character that can be utilized by players who don’t have access to Nilou or Nahida. This is because Kaveh doesn’t require a specific set of elements in the team to create a strong Bloom reaction. Instead, he can work well with support characters from other elements outside of Dendro and Hydro. For instance, players can consider including a strong Anemo character in the team composition. Anemo characters likeVenti, Sucrose, and Kazuhaare particularly useful as they can help with swirling Hydro to facilitate Hydro application, and also provide crowd control by gathering enemies and Dendro cores together. In addition, with the Viridescent Venerer set equipped, the Anemo element can also boost Hydro damage.
This flexibility means that players can make use of the characters they have available and still create a strong team composition with Kaveh as the main DPS. It’s important to note that while having access to certain characters may make it easier to create a strong team, it is still possible to create a successful team without them as many of the characters can be interchanged with each other. The key is generally to focus on characters that can support Kaveh’s Bloom reactions by consistent elemental application and amplify his damage output.
Kaveh + Sucrose + Yaoyao + Xingqiu
This team composition is designed to be budget-friendly, utilizing only 4-star characters. Players who do not have access to 5-star characters can still use this team, and it’s also possible to swap out characters for their counterparts, such as Baizhu for Yaoyao, Yelan for Xingqiu, and Kazuha for Sucrose. Compared to the Nilou Bloom team composition, this team features Sucrose as a unique addition. As an Anemo support character, Sucrose can provide crowd control and group enemies together, making it easier to trigger Bloom reactions. She can also provide a damage buff to teammates, especially at higher constellations, and reduce the Elemental Resistance of enemies. If players have access to her first constellation, she can also be used as a battery to generate more Elemental particles.
Having Kaveh on a free-to-play friendly team that doesn’t use Nilou can allow players to create two highly functional Bloom teams, if they have access to Nilou for use in different team compositions.
Kaveh + Ganyu + Ayato + Venti
Utilizing Cryo in a team composition without Dendro reactions may seem counterintuitive, but it can lead to creative ways to generate Bloom reactions. The Freeze reaction is the focus of this team, allowing for more blooms with each Hydro application as frozen enemies retain their Hydro status for a longer period. While relying solely on Kaveh for Dendro application may be challenging, Anemo characters, in this case Venti) can aid in crowd control to gather enemies and create opportunities for Kaveh to apply Dendro. Furthermore, as a Claymore user, Kaveh can also shatter the frozen enemies consistently.

Since Kaveh will be the on-field DPS, players should focus on Ayato’s Elemental Burst rather than his Elemental Skill, as it can consistently apply Hydro if upheld by high energy generation, which is where Venti comes in handy. The same applies to Ganyu, whose Elemental Burst can maintain her Cryo application for an extended period. However, players can swap out Ganyu for another Cryo character such as Kaeya or Rosaria, or Ayato and Venti for different Hydro and Anemo options. As Ganyu and Ayato can work as both on-field DPS and off-field sub-DPS, they can also focus on their own DPS power during Kaveh’s cooldown. It’s important to note that this team doesn’t utilize a healer as it’s not necessary in Freeze teams, and Kaveh can heal himself. However, players can opt for characters like Sayu or Jean instead of Venti if they prefer to have a healer.
Non-Bloom Teams
It’s worth experimenting with different team compositions to see what works best for each player’s playstyle and in different situations. As such, although Kaveh is most effective in Bloom teams, players can try out different team compositions utilizing him as a Dendro applier and DPS. With a rather different build, after his Elemental Burst, his infused Dendro attacks can make him a formidable Dendro DPS. However, it’s important to note that Spread reaction is not as advantageous for Kaveh compared to other transformative Bloom-related reactions such as Hyperbloom and Burgeon.
Kaveh + Raiden Shogun + Yelan + Kazuha
Players have the option to incorporate Kaveh into a Hyperbloom reaction team as the primary and only Dendro applier. The team requires a fast Hydro applier alongside Kaveh, which Yelan is suitable for, and a consistent but slower Electro applier, where Raiden Shogun’s damage potential is the best fit. However, building Raiden Shogun specifically for this team requires a focus on Elemental Mastery, which detracts from her full potential. Kuki Shinobu can be considered instead of Raiden Shogun since she will not have the same amount of adversity and can heal the party. Kazuha can aid in collecting the enemies and Dendro cores, while also further buffing the team.
It is important to note that since Kaveh can detonate Dendro cores at will, players may need to pause between his normal attacks at times to allow for Hyperbloom reaction to occur instead. In comparison to Bloom, Hyperbloom reaction has a significantly higher base damage multiplier, which can make it a worthwhile option to consider.
Kaveh + Kokomi + Thoma + Flex
Although Pyro-based Dendro reactions like Burgeon and Burning are conceptually similar to Hyperbloom, they are not very popular among players as there are not many viable character options to make them worthwhile. In contrast to Hyperbloom, Pyro-based Dendro reactions require a Pyro character. However, like Hyperbloom, it also benefits from a healer or shielder in the party since Kaveh cannot out-heal the self-damage caused by Burgeon as effectively.

Therefore, Thoma is the only suitable Pyro character to utilize in a Burgeon reaction team. His Pyro application is optimal for triggering this reaction. Alternatively, for players who are interested in using Dehya, despite her not-well-received kit and limited effectiveness, they can substitute Thoma for her. In general, Burgeon is the least favorable among all Bloom-related reactions, as it requires the most effort and underperforms in comparison to more adaptable options.
