Though the release ofDestiny 2’s Season of the Deep has largely gone over well, players are still unhappy that some content from theLightfallDLC is missing without Bungie explaining why. At the same time, the game’s premium currency store, Eververse, is brimming with new items and adding more fuel to the fire.
These factors combine into a general displeasure with how Bungie is handlingDestiny 2’s monetization, especially considering that thenewDestinyPlaystation armor setsseemingly won’t be available as Bright Dust purchases during the Season of the Deep. As it currently stands, the community is merely asking for a response from Bungie.

Notably, the crux of the issue lies with the fact thatDestiny 2players are upset over ritual armorwhich was supposed to come out with theLightfallDLC. A while ago, Bungie specifically promised that each new yearly DLC would come with a full suite of activity armor sets, only for these never to materialize. Now, however, players appear to have accepted that this won’t happen and are asking for communication as to why that is the case, citing the regular releases of Eververse cosmetics as an example of Bungie prioritizing fresh monetization opportunities over fulfilling old promises.
The community has been attempting to get a hold of Bungie for clarification via the studio’s newDestiny 2community manager tags and handles, but these appear to have been ignored so far. It’s not difficult to see why, either, as no matter what the community managers respond with, the player base is likely to take offense to it or be unhappy. It is likely that the issue could have been at least partially alleviated had Bungie provided a good explanation early on, but that opportunity has come and gone.
While the community isn’t up in arms about Bungie’s lack of communication on this front, further outrage is certainly possible if the devs don’t respond to the problem in some capacity. As it currently stands, forum threads referring to the lack of ritual armor refresh and Bungie’s failure to contextualize the issue are popular whenever they crop up, often outpacing threads discussingDestiny 2’s Season 21 contentand the like.
Bungie’s silence on monetization-related issues and missing content isn’t the only thing the community is currently displeased with, of course.Destiny 2’s long-awaited Veil explanation questlineis locked behind a timegate, for one, meaning thatDestiny’s lore-minded fans will need to go through several weeks' worth of waiting before the full story is available.
