A new update toCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2has animated one of the recently-added camos from the Trophy Hunt Camo Challenges. They were added as part ofCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2Season 3 Reloaded, but it seems as though Infinity Ward has changed its mind about its appearance retroactively.
Earningweapon camos has always been a key part of theCall of Dutyexperience, andModern Warfare 2is no different. Infinity Ward has continued to add new camos to the game over the past few months, with players seemingly able to complete the challenges much quicker than the developer is able to add them. Not all of them are animated, making this one a fair bit more unique.

Redditor HoppyTaco noticed that the recently-added Green Tea Camo is now animated on weapons such as the FJX Imperium and the Vaznev-9K inCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Animated camos were already a feature of the game, so it’s not a huge surprise to see, but changing a camo after it was originally released is definitely not within the norm. It will be interesting to see if this becomes more commonplace, as it could definitely induce FOMO within players to complete challenges before they expire, in the event that a skin gets a cool update later down the road.
Players in the thread were disappointed that they weren’t made aware that the camo would actually be animated. Many players decided against grinding out thecamo challenge inCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, and are now faced with not being able to get it in-game. Others claimed they’d never miss another camo event again, just in case Infinity Ward decides to change how it will look after the initial release. There were even a few players disappointed with the change itself, although these were few and far between.
It’ll be curious to see how the future of theCall of Dutyseries pans out. With the news thatthe next game will beCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, many will be surprised that Activision has made the choice to proceed in this way, withModern Warfare 2still so fresh. A new yearlyCall of Dutytitle is no surprise of course, but a newModern Warfaregame could certainly be seen as too soon at the moment. It will depend on the amount of content for the new title upon release, to see if the decision pays off.
Call of Duty:Modern Warfare 2is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
