Without official statements, dataminers and fan theories present possibilities to the release of Season 4. Promotional campaigning and videos from Activision hyped up the release of Season 4, bringing some much-needed flair into the title. Many fans on Reddit shared this excitement only to be met with the postponement of content. Season 4 promised to bring new life to the game with abrand new battle pass, reset on ranks, new challengesto grind, and more. Instead, fans are met with no release date and speculation. “Not hyped just frustrated at this point,” writes one user pointing to the lack of communication from the publisher and developer as a more frustrating situation then the delay itself.
The core of the problem is communication between the company and its fans. “It’s just unprofessional and shows a lack of care from the development team and Activision,” writes another user. Fans feel once again abandoned by the development team. Season 4 was expected to be one of thebiggest content filledModern Warfareseasonsto date, and a huge portion of the community was looking forward to it, though the reason for the delay is completely understandable.
However, the general feeling is anxious and disappointed on theModern Warfaresubreddit. Although fans are trying to be understanding, many have lost faith in Activision and Infinity Ward. “I almost think they were not ready for season 4. Otherwise, they could have given us an alternative date at any time,” writes another user. Fans are attempting tojustify the delay of Season 4. With the lack of communication from Activision, anything is possible in the future ofModern Warfare.
Activision’s social media outlets are either silent or continue to repost old content that fans don’s want to see. “They can continue to upload ‘crazy’ clips to their FB page when it’s actually just a triple kill that 99% of people have seen before but can’t give us a release date,” writes one player. “They have basically been missing on their Instagram since last week,” writes another and the comments go on. The community is not seeking onlya release date for Season 4, they are looking for any information at all but Activision continues to remain silent.
All fans can do is remain patient and hope for the best. Rumors can spread and misinformation can become rampant when developers remain silent. It is best to wait it out and trust that Season 4 will come just when theModern Warfarecommunity needs it most.
