Call of Duty: Warzone 2players are none too pleased with hackers devising workarounds for a recent sniper rifle nerf intended to remove a limited-time one shot kill method. This comes as the St. Patrick’s Day event comes to a close in the online game.

It’s no surprise that snipers are one of the most important assets on the battlefield, and this is no different inCall of Duty: Warzone 2. This makes them extremely viable due to their utility and function when it comes to gameplay, however they have been rather notoriously underpowered inWarzone 2compared to past titles.

But a developer-built one-shot provision for snipers known as the Shillelagh, which in turn was built around the Victus XMR sniper, was always intended to be removed from theCall of Duty: Warzone 2game once the event came to a close. Unfortunately, hackers and cheaters have devised a workaround to add it back in, much to the detriment, and obvious annoyance, of those who play by the rules, or who simply want in-game alternatives, such as LAN-style gameplay, that would lessen their impact.

One-shot snipers haven’t been as prevalent inWarzone 2as they were in the past, as the role has been toned down compared to pastCall of Dutytitles. In fact, one-shot snipers haven’t been a thing at all inWarzone 2(although there has been a fair share ofexploitable bugs and glitches), but there have also been rumors that this could change in future seasons.

Needless to say, players are rather furious about the matter, and this is on both sides of the issue, both regarding the hackers who have devised the workaround and the fact that the Shillelagh has been removed at all, and that’s on top ofmore generalWarzone 2issues and complaintsbeyond the hacking and cheating. Some bemoaned the hackers completely, with one commenter stating that his team “wiped them in CQB and then realized they had the blueprint," which resulted in some confusion on their part. Others were somewhat more along the lines of love/hate regarding the matter, and one player even suggested that “It was just really fun to have half the lobby dropping in the same place.”

That being said, it’s entirely possible that the hackers and cheaters will simply bebanned completely from playing inWarzone 2. It remains to be seen how theCall of Duty: Warzone 2team handles this matter, but in the meantime players are going to have to settle for other methods of dealing with the issue.

Call of Duty: Warzone 2is currently available for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
