Quirky Yet Relatable Characters

From the main characters to the supporting casts, and even the enemies, there are a lot of quirky characters inChainsaw Man. There’s the chaotic main character, Denji, a man who wouldn’t hesitate to jump into a horde of demons just for a loaf of bread. There’s Power, a bratty girl who is also the personification of the Blood Devil. And then there’s Makima, a beautiful and soft-spoken woman who is not only a master manipulator, but also a terrifying devil hunter. You’ll find a lot more quirky characters like them in the series.

One of the main downfalls of quirky characters is the fact that the only thing they have going for them is their quirkiness. There’s little to no depth to their characters and personality. Fortunately, that is not the case at all with the people inChainsaw Man. The devil-may-care Denji has a traumatic childhood that messed him up badly, the energetic Power is actually pretty fearful and insecure, and even Makima holds a deep and dark secret that is carefully and masterfully hidden from the viewers. They are well-crafted, three-dimensional characters. That’s what makes them so lovable and relatable.

Chainsaw Man Bloody Fight

Violence & Carnage

There are a lot of shounen anime out there that purposely avoid presenting their fight scenes as bloody and violent, such asDragon BallandOne Piecewhere the battle usually ends with the characters covered in bruisesand simply passed out. Which is actually a reasonable thing to do. After all, these are genuine shounen stories with most of its audience being teenagers, so the decision to avoid a bloodbath battle is certainly understandable.

However, newer shounen titles prefer to take a different approach. Anime likeJujutsu Kaisen, My Hero Academia, andDemon Slayersprefers to display their battle scenes as how they are supposed to look, which is bloody and violent. That being said,Chainsaw Manturns this idea all the way to eleven and brings you carnage on every fight. You will not only see the heroes and the villains fight to the death with open wounds and missing limbs, but you will also see innocent passersby, be it children or old people, die a horrible death as the consequences of these battles.

Chaotic And Over-The-Top Action Sequences

Continuing from the previous point, since the battle scenes onChainsaw Manare filled with carnage and violence, you can expect chaotic and over-the-top action sequencesfrom this series. From destroying half of the city blocks and blowing up everything in sight to jumping into a giant demon’s mouth and hacking and killing it from the inside out, crazy is an understatement to describe the battles in this series.

That being said, MAPPA has officially announced that this first season will only have 13 episodes, soyou might not get to see all the carnage that happens later on in the manga. For example, the first season ofDemon Slayers, which has 26 episodes by the way, only adapted the first seven volumes of the manga. So we can expect this first season to adapt around 3 to 4 volumes ofChainsaw Manmanga. So while the craziest fights are yet to come, we’ll still get to enjoy over-the-top action sequences that are way more chaotic than what you’ve seen in other anime.

Chainsaw Man Chaotic Fight

Dramatic Story

The main attraction ofChainsaw Manis certainly its action sequences. But that doesn’t mean that’s the only thing that this series has to offer. On the contrary, the action is there in order to tell a compelling and dramatic story.Denji’s struggle to survive,Aki’s path to revenge, Power’s longing for a genuine bond, those are just some of the interesting storyline and character development that you may find inChainsaw Man.

Chainsaw Manis one of those anime that can dazzle you with its mind-blowing action sequence, it can make you laugh with its absurd comedy, and it can make you feel dejected with its drama. And now with the new anime right around the corner, all of that good stuff that you can find in the manga will be enhanced even further with abeautiful animation by MAPPA. The hype couldn’t be higher right now, so let’s hope the anime is as good, and hopefully even better, than the manga. Because if it does, then it can easily be one of the best series in 2022.
