Summary
Just like in real life, the cities inCities: Skylines 2offer a lot of different public transportation options. Players can use buses, taxis, trains, and even subways to help bring citizens to where they need to be. It not only makes the cities feel a bit more realistic, but it also helps alleviate the traffic problem immensely. And while the game may have improved the entire system, it also left behind one ofCities: Skylinesmost unique transportation options.
Cities: Skylines 2’spublic transportation emulates reality very well, but the system is oddly missing almost everything that the Mass Transit DLC added to the original. While ferries seem to have made a comeback, there are no cable cars, monorails, or blimps to play with. Each one added a fun unique flair to cities, with the blimps being one of the best ones to mess around with. However, Colossal Order left them out this time around, and that needs to be rectified.

Cities: Skylines 2 Needs to Bring Blimps Back
Cities: Skylinesreceived a massive update to its public transportation system withthe release of the Mass Transit DLC pack. This pack added new transportation mechanics on top of the base game’s version to create a much more engaging system. Players could now build mass transit hubs, utilize new road types to help speed up traffic, and also mess around with multiple new transportation options. Even though not every addition was fantastic, this pack quickly became a must-have for any aspiring city builder.
Why Blimps Would Have Been a Great Addition to Cities: Skylines 2
Cities: Skylinesblimps were not the best public transportation in the game as they took up a lot of space, but they were the most unique. Real cities are constantly using things like trains, taxis, buses, and even ferries to get their citizens to where they need to go. There really is no city in the world that lets citizens fly through the skies in massive blimps on their way to work. That made its inclusion stand out among the many transportation options, yet it was left behind for some reason.
Cities: Skylines 2has left behind a lot of the original game’s DLC, which is a shame as it could have all shined here. While the game may have the makings of a great city builder, it would have been nice if things like blimps made the cut. There is a chance that the studio has plans to re-release it as future DLC, however, it has yet to announce anything. Instead, players have just been left to wonder what form these post-launch updates will take, with some speculating that it may befollowing in the footsteps ofThe Sims.
Cities: Skylines' blimps were not only a fun transportation option, but they also provided a unique aesthetic that the sequel does not really have.
Currently,Cities: Skylines 2’s art styleseems to lack anything exciting as the studio has chosen to go for grays and blues. The blimps could have helped liven up that landscape a bit if given the chance, so hopefully they are given that chance. And if the blimps come along, then the rest of the Mass Transit DLC should definitely be able to follow suit.
