Cyberpunk 2077launched six months ago and yet the controversy surrounding the hugely successful RPG continues. Questions remain regardingCyberpunk 2077’s development and CD Projekt Red’s decision to put it out in such a broken state. A new leak from CD Projekt Red provides further insight into the situation. They include videos reportedly created byCyberpunk 2077QA devs detailing bugs within the game that was shared internally just months before the game launched worldwide.

According to a now-deleted tweet from CD Projekt Red developer Slava Lukyanenka, these videos were “compositions of bug materials” collected through “years of development.” The three videos, each between 3 and 6 minutes long, are made to look likeCyberpunk 2077outtakes or meme videos. They show various bugs, like t-posing immortal enemies, broken animations, and broken in-game mechanics, all to the tune of a recorder playing theCyberpunk 2077theme song.

The discovery of the videos has prompted some outcry that CD Projekt Red was well aware ofCyberpunk 2077’s many issues at launch. Many of the bugs shown are similar or identical to thoseCyberpunk 2077players experienced for themselves, after all. And there’s the additional factor at play inCyberpunk 2077players' minds that CD Projekt Red would go on to downplay the game’s problems. Co-CEO Marcin Iwinski even publically stated thatCyberpunk 2077’s testing prior to launchdidn’t capture the “big part of the issues.” That’s a difficult argument to swallow given these videos. Note that some of the content is NSFW.

The videos aren’t substantial evidence of anything improper in and of themselves. Every game has major bugs throughout development, and QA collecting those bugs into a video to share with the studio seems like a fun thing to do. In fact, CD Projekt Red evenshared something similar forThe Witcher 3. These bugs were also said to be collected across years of development, only to be shared just before launch. Rather, the videos just tie into an ongoing conversation aboutCyberpunk 2077in a particular way.

One material way these leaked videos could become a bigger issue forCyberpunk 2077is as part of several ongoing lawsuits againstCD Projekt Red’s parent company. CD Projekt shareholders, as well as other parties, are suing the company over the state ofCyberpunk 2077at launch. These videos could be used as evidence to show a degree of nonfeasance.

CD Projekt Red is actively working onCyberpunk 2077. The scope of its efforts isn’t entirely clear, but multiple patches, updates, free DLC, and also next-gen versions of the game are being worked on. Thesaga ofCyberpunk 2077won’t be ending for some time.

Cyberpunk 2077is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
