The world ofDauntlesshas been continually expanding since its release, and the most recent addition is a top-to-bottom redesign of the hub city of Ramsgate. The redesign reportedly incorporatesDauntlesscommunity feedback gathered over the past several months, adding more depth and interaction opportunities for players.

The free-to-play co-op action RPG takes place in the world of the Shattered Isles, and gameplay involves taking down monstrous Behemoths alongside friends and fellow players. Since its launch last May,Dauntlesshas been given over a dozen content updates; the most recent before this Ramsgate overhaul was “Call of the Void,” which introduced new gameplay and boss battles.

Ramsgate is generally the place to go when players aren’t offslaying Behemoths, and in a report for PlayStation’s blog, developer Phoenix Labs wrote that all changes to the city were made in to better serve the players. Not only has the general layout of Ramsgate been redesigned, with more height and depth to the city as a whole, but the world itself is more responsive and interactive.

Phoenix Labs described it as a “living city”; players are able to interact with vista shots found throughout the city at different angles, allowing them to spot things they would ordinarily miss. Players can also collect lore about Ramsgate and the Shattered Isles by interacting with various objects scattered throughout the city; those pieces of knowledge can be found and read in the player Journal.

New landmarkfeatures have been added toDauntless’Ramsgate map, including a bazaar with Gregario’s shop and a new tonic vendor, Granny Strega. Each Ramsgate vendor area also has a “stronger theme, both visually and aurally.” Players will be able to hear changes in the music and spot them in the scenery depending on where they go in the city. Finally, there’s a fast-travel option for players now; aether jets can be found throughout the city and take players where they want to go in a flash.

The Ramsgate revamp is part ofDauntless' Clear Skies update, which also includes a rework of the sword class. All in all, it’s good to see Phoenix Labs listening to player feedback and going so far as to overhaul already existing aspects of the game as a result.

Dauntlessis out now for PC, PS4, Nintendo Switch and Xbox One.
