As both Bungie and theDestiny 2gaming community prepare for theBeyond Lightexpansion to release in November, Bungie will be retiring some items into the DCV, or Destiny Content Vault. Players don’t need to say goodbye to these items completely, as theDCV is a for temporary content cycling, but this will be the last players see of certain items for a while, and even if they return their release will probably be limited.
Bungie introduced the DCV toDestiny 2in June, in hopes of conserving old content and allowing for new content to enter the game, as well as reintroduce old favorites as a way to keepDestiny 2engaging and fresh for “years to come.“Beyond Lightwill bring a bunch of new content, so Bungie is moving some locations into the DCV, which generally means the locations' PvE activities and rewards go into the vault too.

Several “core activities” ofDestiny 2will be leaving, including strikes, Crucible, Gambit, raids, and dungeons. Io, Titan, Mars, Mercury, and Leviathan will be the Vaulted locations, so their associated strikes will also be leaving the game. The strikes entering the DCV are The Pyramidion, The Festering Core, Savathun’s Song, Strange Terrain, Will of the Thousands, Tree of Probabilities, and A Garden World.Destiny’sGambitmode is changingby merging Gambit and Gambit Prime into one experience, and players will be losing access to Cathedral of Scars (Dreaming City) and Kell’s Grave (Tangled Shore). Some Crucible maps will also be Vaulted:
PvP playlists and modes are getting condensed to the most-played, which will hopefully help users findbetter connections and matchmaking inDestiny 2. The PvP modes moving into the DCV are Supremacy, Countdown, Lockdown, Breakthrough, Doubles, Momentum Control, and Scorched. On the other hand, no dungeons are getting Vaulted this time around, although players will have to say farewell to Leviathan’s raids as the location leaves: Eater of Worlds, Spire of Stars, Scourge of the Past, and Crown of Sorrows. Players will have the rest of the season to earn these raids' rewards and Triumphs.
ManyDestiny 2Exotics are changingtoo, and a fair number won’t be available via their original quests come Season of Arrivals. However, players will still be able to get “legacy Exotics” and catalysts via a Memorial kiosk being added to the Vault kiosks in the Tower. Bungie will be releasing more info soon on how to earn these Exotics before they enter the vault, but players can always start trying to earn them now.
Destiny 2is available for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X versions in development.
