The excitement among theDestinycommunity has been palpable leading up to the launch ofDestiny 2’s newest expansion,The Witch Queen, with players speculating what may be waiting inside Savathun’s Throne World. Between weapon crafting, the legendary campaign, andVoid 3.0, there will be plenty for players to sink their teeth into on day one while more lay over the horizon. However, some dataminers are not waiting to dig into the game and have been posting game files on social media just hours ahead ofThe Witch Queengoing live.
The Witch Queenis the fourth major expansion forDestiny 2, which will see players battle against the Hive god of cunning and titular queen, Savathun. Guardians are tasked with venturing into her dangerous Throne World to learn how she has been reborn in the Light and what will need to be done to take it back. Standing between Savathun and guardians, though, are the Light-imbued Hive guardians of the Lucent Brood and the dangerous mysteries of the Throne World itself.

Preloads forThe Witch Queenand Update 4.0.0.1 went live at 9 PM PST/12 AM EST, dropping in various game files to ensure the expansion is ready to play around weekly reset. It was these game files dataminers were quick to dive into on PC, digging through what was immediately available for anything that may be worth posting on social media. The most common, thus far, has been on YouTube, containing up to an hour of in-game audio and dialogue from the campaign, new raid, and other activities.

Leaks are nothing new toDestiny 2, with multiple alleged leaks appearing over the last year claiming to have information about Bungie’s plans forThe Witch Queenand beyond. Among the biggest of these alleged leaks was themassive Pastebin leak, which first picked up steam with theDestinycommunity during the Spring of 2021. The files outlined supposed plans for class reworks inThe Witch Queenand year 5 to bring Light subclasses in line with Stasis, a legendary-difficulty campaign, and the potential of weapon crafting.
The difference in this case, though, is an audio leak is pulled directly from the game and can offer direct spoilers for aspects of the game. Some players may argue this is taking things too far, especially given how close the posts went up toThe Witch Queengoing live, and ruins the surprises Bungie has in store. Whether this proves to be the case or not, players will need to jump intoThe Witch QueenandSeason of the Risento see for certain.
