The first weekend of Trials of Osiris has concluded and the most popular weapons of the PvP playlist have bubbled to the top, establishing the weapons that players felt were most effective in the 3v3 Elimination mode. Trials of Osiris has often served as a good barometer as to what weapons are dominant in all of PvP because Trials is the most competitive playlist inDestiny 2, thus players bring their very best gear to help them win and make it tothe Lighthouse for its rewards.
While it is possible that some weapons may become more or less popular with each passing weekend of Trials of Osiris, especially as players potentially discover hidden gems during the season or patches nerf or buff certain (albeit those kinds of balance changes are rarer outside of the start of the season), but at the start of Season of the Worthy, some clear weapons have established themselves as the best inDestiny 2.

The auto rifle buff that came in Update 2.8.0 to start Season of the Worthy madeauto rifles viable in PvP, and that could not be more true for the exotic auto rifles Hard Light and SUROS Regime. Hard Light was far and away the most popular overall weapon in Trials of Osiris this weekend, responsible for almost double the kills of any other weapon. Hard Light’s effectiveness is due to it being in the 600 RPM archetype, which received the most significant buff among auto rifles, plus the fact that Hard Light does not suffer damage drop-off.
Similarly, SUROS Regime is good becausethe auto rifle buff from Update 2.8.0gets amped up when players use the Spinning Up perk on SUROS Regime, which increases the rate of fire of the weapon while still keeping the same damage. Without a doubt, an auto rifle meta has established itself in Season of the Worthy.
Sniper rifles have always been extremely strong in Trials of Osiris, as many players often play passive at the start of each round. The first minutes of a round are often a sprint toestablish lane control and try to get a pick(killing one opponent on the other team), so that teams with the upper hand in numbers can move in and clean up the other two opposing players.
There are two dominant snipers in the game right now. The first isthe Crucible pinnacle weapon Revoker, which has the unique perk of refunding a round back to the magazine when players miss, offering forgiveness for missing a shot. The other is Beloved, which has great stats and a top-tier perk pool to pull from. It is also extremely easy to farm a good roll by completing the Menagerie activity.
On the other side of special weapons, the game’s most dominant shotguns are still the best for Trials of Osiris. Those are Mindbender’s Ambition and Dust Rock Blues.Mindbender’s Ambitionhas long been the best shotgun in the game, but it is only earnable by completing The Hallowed Lair Nightfall, which makes it harder to get for some players who can’t farm the Nightfall with a team on a regular basis. Dust Rock Blues is also a great shotgun and easily found through multiple sources as world drops, so players have a better chance at getting one.
Hard Light and SUROS Regime may be really good right now, but hand cannons, which have long been a go-to weapon class in Trials is still very much around. The best hand cannons are Spare Rations, Not Forgotten, and Thorn. Thorn is an exotic that can be earned through its exotic quest.
Spare Rations is earned through Gambit Prime and the Reckoning, and it has been a top choice since its debut in Season of the Drifter. It has a full 100 aim assist stat, which makes it incredibly accurate, along with great perks to pull from.
Not Forgotten is one of the hardest weapons in the game to get, being a pinnacle weapon that requires a lot of work to earn. It is essentially a better version of the Luna’s Howl pinnacle weapon. Not only do players need to get through the Luna’s Howl quest, but they then have to get 500 kills with Luna’s Howl in the Competitive playlist and also reach the top Legend rank in Glory points in Competitive in orderto earn Not Forgotten.
Destiny 2is available now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
