Every year ofDestiny 2provides players with more than just seasonal content and story updates, it also gives players four holiday events. While events based on real-world holidays are not uncommon in video games,Destiny 2puts a unique spin on these events. Since the game takes place in a futuristic post-apocalyptic setting, it is no surprise that Halloween has changed drastically.
Halloween is now referred to asFestival of the Lostand is celebrated to honor those who have died. This event has undergone some significant changes over the years, but players will find that this year’s event will be mostly the same. That said, here is when Festival of the Lost begins along with what is new.

When Does Festival of the Lost Begin?
Per the recentweekly post from Bungie,Festival of the Lost begins on October 17th at 1 PM EST/10 AM PST. Events usually last for three weeks, so players should expect Festival of the Lost to wrap up on November 7th when the weekly reset happens at 1 PM EST/10 AM PST.
Every year, there are sets of armor that players vote on. Theset that gets the most voteswins and becomes the Eververse Ornament set that players can purchase with Silver or Bright Dust. Titans and Hunters will get sets that make them look like spiders while Warlocks get a set that looks more like a beetle. Obvioiusly, there will be a whole assortment of special Festival of the Lost cosmetics that players can purchase during this event as well.
In addition to the traditional set of community voted armor,Haunted Sectorsand the oddly named Headless Ones make their return. The twist this time, however, is that there will be a Legend difficulty version of Haunted Sectors. Bungie did not specify if this meant Haunted Sectors will now have Champions or if it meant that players will have to deal with game-changing modifiers.
A new difficulty for Haunted Sectors is not the only thing being added this year. There will be new kind of Festival of the Lost themed engram that can drop from Haunted Sectors called Eerie Engrams. Just like with other engrams, the Eerie Engram can be opened or focused to attempt to chase specific loot. On top of being able to focus them, Eerie Engrams will also have a chance to contain a brand-new Mementofor weapon crafting. This will certainly be an exciting thing for players to chase as there has not been a new Memento added to the game since the launch of Witch Queen in 2022.
