Beginner players may be eager tounlockDisney Dreamlight Valley’sA Rift in Timeupdate and progress further in the game but could feel overwhelmed with so many things to do first.

Consequently, new players might wonder whatthings to upgrade first inDisney Dreamlight Valley, especially when players must often farm Star Coins to get upgrades. Updated March 23rd, 2024:Disney Dreamlight Valley gives players a whole host of possible upgrades, from Royal Tools to buildings across the Valley. However, with so many upgrades available, it can sometimes feel tricky knowingwhat to upgrade firstin Disney Dreamlight Valley. Knowing the best upgrades can also be especially handy, considering they often cost large amounts of Gold Star Coins, Dreamlight, or Mist. As Scrooge McDuck likes to remind players, time is money, and it’s time-consuming to gather the required resources to invest in upgrades. Therefore, many players may be eager to know a few tips about some of the game’s best upgrades to ensure they get the best ones for their coin, especially during early-game days. Some upgrades also offer players more benefits than others, such as opening up more parts of the Valley, better storage options, and more. This update adds two new entries and adds more information to the existing ones.

Cost/How To Get

Gaston’s Stall is exclusive toDisney Dreamlight Valley’sA Rift in Timeupdate, where players can buy meat produce, including pork, poultry, and venison. For players with access to this expansion, it’s worth taking the time to upgrade Gaston’s stall as enables players to makeDisney Dreamlight Valley’s meat-based recipes, such as Ramen.

It’s a bit different from upgrading Goofy’s Stall in the game, as players only need to complete Gaston’s Center of Attention quest to unlock it rather than necessarily spend in-game currency on it. However, if players don’t know about the stall, they could miss out on restoring it to glory and the range of recipes its stock offers.

Also exclusive toA Rift in Time,Disney Dreamlight Valley’s Timebending table opens up a whole new world of Hourglass upgrades to players and lets them craft new recipes, including various types of potion upgrades to the base game’s Royal Tools. For example, this includes the Small Glass Stalagmite Pickaxe Potion, which players then need 500 Mist and 10 Oasis Glass to make.

It costs Mist to upgrade the Timebending Table, which players can get by clearing away the purple-green, quartz-like structures across Eternity Isle. Once players upgrade the Table, they also get access to other types of craftable items each time they upgrade it, in addition to Special Items like Tool upgrades. For instance, this includes Scramblecoin Pieces, furniture, decorations, Ancient Machines, and beyond.

While the cost of upgrading Goofy’s stall varies between biomes, beginner players should ideally prioritize upgrading Goofy’s stall in the Peaceful Meadow as soon as possible, so they can increase the variety of vegetables to buy and grow, plus cook more early-gameDisney Dreamlight Valleycooking recipes.

In the Peaceful Meadow, after the first free upgrade, players can upgrade Goofy’s stall a second and third time by clicking the sign on Goofy’s stall to get wheat and carrot seeds. Goofy can also stock fully-grown lettuce, carrots, and wheat.

BeginnerDisney Dreamlight Valleyplayersmay quickly discover they need to harvest many resources to progress in the game. In the early stages of trying to make money, this often means repeat trips to the player’s house storage chest or dropping items.

However, once players get enough Star Coins, they can upgrade their backpack inventory three times to give them more storage space slots on the go by selecting the ‘Expand’ option in their backpack. Each upgrade adds seven more storage slots - even the first upgrade can help make a big difference.

After unlocking Scrooge McDuck’s shop through his ‘Making Cents of Things’ friendship quests, players may quickly realize that his shop doesn’t hold that much stock. Players may need to place custom orders to complete quests likeDisney Dreamlight Valley’s Faith, Trust, and Pixel Dustto unlock Vannellope.

Upgrading Scrooge’s store inDisney Dreamlight Valleyincreases the number of items players can buy in Scrooge’s shop, giving them more access to a bigger range of furniture and clothing items. While the second upgrade is expensive, the first upgrade is handy.

AnotherDisney Dreamlight Valleyupgrade to prioritize first is upgrading the Royal Pickaxe. Environmental obstacles like rocks and ice in different biomes, such as Dazzle Beach, block pathways, so players must upgradeDisney Dreamlight Valley’s Royal Pickaxeto break troublesome rocks and ice to progress further in the game.

To upgrade the pickaxe to break rocks, players should level up with Maui, who can upgrade the pickaxe twice. Once players reach theFrozenRealm, they can befriend Elsa to gain two more upgrades to break the ice.

The Royal Watering Can is another Royal Tool that enables players to unlock more areas of the map. For instance, upgradingDisney Dreamlight Valley’s Royal Watering Caninitially allows players to progress further in the main quest. It also lets players remove mushrooms to move further in the Glade of Trust after players reach level eight friendship level with Merlin, and later on, a vast mushroom blocking a path at level 10.

At a later stage, players can temporarily upgrade the Watering Can to grow plants instantly using concoctions like Miracle Growth Elixir for more efficient farming.

Players looking to progress should also prioritize upgradingDisney Dreamlight Valley’s Royal Shovel, as it enables players to break other kinds of environmental obstacles blocking paths in various biomes, including mushroom tree stumps in the Forest of Valor and Wildebeast Bones in the Sunlit Plateau.

To do so, players must reach theFrozenrealm to get the ability to break mushroom tree stumps by achieving a level-two friendship level with Anna. Players must also unlock the Sunlit Plateau and build friendship levels with Scar to levels three and seven to getDisney Dreamlight Valley’s Wildebeast Bones upgrade.

Complete Merlin’s ‘Friendship is Everything’ quest.

Another upgrade that newDreamlight Dreamlight Valleyplayers might not necessarily expect is the ability to upgrade the Well in the Peaceful Meadow biome by raising their friendship levels with Merlin. This action unlocks the ability to remove night thorns that block access to other biomes on the map at the cost of Dreamlight.

Upgrading the Well also unlocks the ability to fast-travel inDisney Dreamlight Valley, provided players upgrade other Wells they find across different biomes via the upgrade signs next to each well for a variable number of Star Coins.

UnlockingDisney Dreamlight Valley’s Fixing the Boat questfrom Moana allows players to get more helpful upgrades to support harvesting in the Valley. Not only does fixing the boat mean she can sail and catch fish for players, but upgrading the boat via its Scrooge sign enables Moana to catch more varieties of fish, including rarer species.

There is always a lot of to inDisney Dreamlight Valley, so any help players can get in harvesting more resources can be extremely handy for players looking to progress quicker with fishing.
