Controversial YouTube streamer Herschel Beahm IV, known to many gamers as Dr Disrespect, levied veiled criticism at Activision’s PR team on a recent stream, announcing that he hadn’t been invited to an upcoming event promotingCall of Duty: Warzone 2. Beahm began streaming on Justin.tv, the platform that would later become Twitch, in 2011 while working as a community manager for Sledgehammer Games. Streaming under the handle Dr Disrespect, with a costume and on-screen persona that made him instantly recognizable, he began to amass a large following while streamingPlayerUnknown’s Battlegroundson Twitch, eventually becoming one of the most well-known streamers on the platform. Following a string of controversies, including a 2019 incident where the streamer filmed individuals inside a public restroom at E3,Dr Disrespect was permanently banned from Twitchin 2020 for undisclosed reasons.

As part of a recent live stream on YouTube, Dr Disrespect revealed that Activision had not invited him to take part in an upcoming event promotingCall of Duty: Warzone 2, and expressed frustration with Activision’s PR team. While the streamer was careful not to be directly combative towards Activision’s PR team, he stated that “I feel like they are out there, let’s just say that.” News of the snub comes as Dr Disrespect has been working furiously to promote the upcoming shooter from his own development studio, Midnight Society’sDeadrop.
Dr Disrespect didn’t speculate as to why he wasn’t invited to theCall of Duty: Warzone 2event, and this doesn’t mark the first time that the popular streamer was seemingly snubbed by Activision. He also didn’t receive an invitation when Activision held itsCall of DutyNext event in September to premiereWarzone 2, which led to the streamer claiming that the game’s publishers ‘don’t get’Call of Duty. Activision isn’t the only company to fall victim to the streamer’s ire lately, with angry tweets fromDr Disrespect criticizing Twitch’s new revenue splitrecently making news in the streaming community.
Despite a persona that some gamers may find grating, Dr Disrespect has managed to build a loyal fanbase and establish himself as one of the biggest figures in streaming.
