The affinity for DC films seems to have been revitalized because several netizens expressed interest in watchingBlack Adamand the other superhero films from DC after learning that they are already accessible on Netflix. One user said they watchedBlack Adamand found it “really good,” so he wasn’t sure why people disliked it. A different user compared the film to a fine wine, which tastes better as it ages. Another fan said they had watched Johnson’s titular superhero flick many times and would do so again after it landed on Netflix. “Black Adam, the best superhero movie since its release, is on Netflix,” another netizen wrote.
There is no doubt thatBlack Adamhas found success on Netflix. It seemed that it was able to redeem its reputation afterBlack Adamfell short at the box officelast year.Black Adamfared poorly because the expectations were too high, knowing that Johnson was playing the titular character, and it didn’t deliver. It lacked a concrete backstory to capture the audience’s attention, had mediocre cinematography, the CGI was boring, and some action sequences were not convincing. Even solid DC fans were not impressed withBlack Adam. Many were hopeful it would be at least as good asShazam, but it wasn’t.
The characters featured inBlack Adamwere also overwhelming. There were too many faces, and the audience felt they werethrown with the entire Justice Societyand expected to understand who they were. Unfortunately, there was a severe lack of character-building, and many of those characters appeared insignificant. In the end, the audience felt that the film was extremely rushed. But then again, to each their own. While many were not impressed withBlack Adamwhen it hit the theaters, it seemed that more and more were in the mood for a superhero genre this time. Those who watched the film on Netflix appeared kinder and more supportive of the film. Maybe this isBlack Adam’s time to shine. Perhaps it’s finally on the perfect platform where it is meant to be — where it is appreciated.
Black Adamis available on Netflix.
