Summary
Recent Marvel games have followed in the footsteps of their film counterparts in delivering epic, cinematic experiences worth preserving long after players finish the game. As such, the inclusion of a photo mode in a game likeMarvel’s Spider-Man 2is a perfect way to capture the Web-Slinger’s high-flying stunts in action and render them to showcase the hardware capabilities of current-gen platforms. However, there is one addition to the photo mode ofMarvel’s Spider-Man 2that is unexpectedly charming and would make for a great inclusion in EA Motive’s upcomingIron Mangame.
Marvel fans have a lot of games to look forward to in the coming years, with titles likeMarvel 1943: Rise of Hydra,Marvel’s Wolverine, andMarvel’s Iron Manin development. While there hasn’t been much revealed aboutMarvel’s Iron Manfrom developer EA Motive, the game holds the potential to be another hit on the same level as Insomniac’sSpider-Mangames. The ultimate icing on the cake for Iron Man fans would be for the game to feature the Action Figure photo mode fromSpider-Man 2to allow players to create imaginative snapshots using the hero’s iconic armor.
EA Motive’s Iron Man Needs Spider-Man 2’s Action Figure Photo Mode
Insomniac had already created one of the most photogenic games in recent years withSpider-Man 2, but earlier this year, theNew Game Plus update forSpider-Man 2added the Action Figure photo mode that took the community by storm. This mode allows players to scale down Peter, Miles, and even Venom to the size of action figures and place them in any pose or position they desire. The results went viral as players let their creativity run wild, capturing hilarious, epic, and charming shots of these characters in miniature.
The popularity of this photo mode addition shouldn’t go unnoticed by EA Motive when developingMarvel’s Iron Man, sinceTony Starkwould be the perfect character to see put in similar poses and configurations as an action figure-sized hero. Despite this mode being added via a post-launch update toMarvel’s Spider-Man 2, it could do wonders forMarvel’s Iron Man’s success if it is included at launch. Given how viral some of theseSpider-Man 2action figure shots went after the mode was added, EA Motive could really help sell players on their title by following a similar blueprint.
Spider-Man 2’s Action Figure Photo Mode Holds Too Much Potential for EA Motive’s Iron Man to Pass Up
A fundamental part ofInsomniac’sSpider-Mangames is all the various suitsplayers can collect. Each of these suits references a different iteration of Spider-Man or other characters within theSpider-Manuniverse, alongside other original designs. The wide variety of suits available enhances the game’s photogenic nature, giving players even more room for creativity in producing scenes using their favorite suits combined with their favorite poses, and a similar mechanic could also work inMarvel’s Iron Man’s favor given the iconic nature of Tony Stark’s high-tech Iron Man suits.
Like Spider-Man, Iron Man has a wide variety of suit designs that EA Motive would be wise to include in their game given the popularity of the suit collecting in Insomniac’s titles. Including different Iron Man suits would also give EA Motive an even greater reason to featureSpider-Man 2’s Action Figure photo mode, since players will more than likely want to create unique snapshots with the hero’s various armors. Depending on which other characters are featured in the game, being able to add allies likeWar Machineto these photos would be a welcome addition and could help giveMarvel’s Iron Manthe extra layer of polish needed for success.
