Following the release ofElden Ring, many players have taken advantage of the numerous creative freedoms that the game provides. Considering how straight laced the formatting of most FromSoftware titles tend to be,Elden Ringprovides its player base with much more open-ended gameplay opportunities. Although, this newfound freedom can sometimes lead to unexpected occurrences in-game.

A common feature that has been used in FromSoftware games since the advent ofDemon’s Soulsis the ability to invade other players' games. The goal is to either kill or aid the player of whichever game the other player decides to invade. While this mechanic has been carried over toElden Ring, some players have taken to doing rather strange things once they invade another player’s game.

AReddituser named Dr-True posted a small clip of their game getting invaded by three other players, whose characters are half-naked and wearing metal helmets. One of the players pulled out a Prattling Pate stone that says “hello” when used. The three users then proceed to surround the player in a triangular formation and have their characters gesture in perpendicular directions.

The fact that the player character whose game got invaded was also wearing a Raya Lucaria sorcerer helmet, which looks eerily similar to theBurger Kingmascot, makes the situation that much more abnormal. It ends up looking like a group of cultists antagonizing the Burger King mascot inside ofElden Ring.

It’s instances like this that make not just theElden Ringcommunity, but theDark Soulscommunity as a whole, so enjoyable. The limited ways in which players can interact with each other in-game can often lead to hilarious moments like this. Though, in addition to invading players games and using gestures, themessages that players can write inElden Ringalso do a lot in terms of bringing the community of players closer together.

In any case, it will be interesting to see what the future holds forElden Ring. Given that it’s been just over a week sinceElden Ringfirst launched, it seems unlikely that any new content for the game will release anytime soon. A significant portion of FromSoftware games have received DLC in the past, but whetherElden Ringwill get any remains to be seen. Then again, FromSoftware’s previous titleSekiro: Shadows Die Twicereceived DLC in the form of a content update, so it’s possible that could be the case forElden Ringgoing forward.

Elden Ringis available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
