FromSoftware’sElden Ringis a sprawling open world epic that is filled to the brim with hordes of deadly enemies. The enemy variety inElden Ringhas earned plenty of praise since the game’s release, with each major location offering new creatures for players to take on. Considering the sheer number of enemies that exist in the game, it’s no surprise that someElden Ringplayers aren’t even aware of all the attacks they have at their disposal.
This was the case forElden Ringfan and Reddit user Expedition20, who recently shared a clip of an enemy doing an attack that they claim they never saw in their first 300 hours of playtime. In the clip, Expedition20 is outsideLeyndell Royal Capital, being chased by skeleton monsters. Expedition20 is galloping around the skeletons with Torrent when suddenly one of the creatures T-poses, floats into the air, and spews black flames.

The comments on the video suggest that many otherElden Ringplayers have put significant time into the game and yet are just seeing this for the first time themselves, with one claiming to have reached New Game+3 without ever seeing this attack. There are some theories about how this could be. Some think it’s because only these specific skeletons outside Leyndell are capable of doing this attack, while others think so few have seen them do this because the creatures die relatively quick. Basically, mostElden Ringplayerskill these things before they’re ever given the chance to do an attack like this.
Due toElden Ring’s incredible size, there are many other stories of fans making discoveries like this after having already spent significant time with the game. For example, one player discovered thatElden Ringcrystal dartscan be used to make golem enemies fight each other, making certain encounters in the game significantly easier than they would be otherwise. They claimed to have played the game for over 400 hours before making the realization.
Sometimes theseElden Ringdiscoveries are more heartbreaking than they are exciting, however. In a separate instance, a player wasrune farming inElden Ringfor 55 hours with the goal of reaching 1 billion runes. Unfortunately, they found out that the game doesn’t let players get 1 billion runes, maxing out at 999,999,999.
Elden Ringcontinues to top sales charts, suggesting that more fans are starting their adventures in the Lands Between all the time. It will be interesting to see what discoveries they and longtimeElden Ringplayers make as they continue playing FromSoftware’s latest.
