As exciting as the launch week is for a game or developer’s hardcore fan-bases, it is rarely ever a time without problems of some sort appearing with the game out in the wild.Elden Ringis proving to be no exception, with Xbox players in particular suffering from server and connection issues during the game’s launch weekend. It appearsFromSoftwarerecognizes this particular problem, though, and a patch is already out for Xbox players looking to properly enjoy the game’s co-op feature.
Elden Ringis the latest title from developer FromSoftware, in collaboration withGame of Thronesauthor George R.R. Martin, and follows theDark Souls-style game design the studio has become known for. Players take on the role of the Tarnished, exiled warriors in the Lands Between looking to restore theElden Ringwith aspirations of becoming the new Elden Lord over the shattered lands. To restore the ring, players will need to traverse the vast landscape of the Land Between and battle corrupted, powerful demigods who each possess a piece of the ring.

While players can tackleElden Ring’s challenges alone, co-op is available for anyone who may need assistance with a difficult boss encounter. Xbox players, however, had been unable to take advantage of this feature due to networking andserver issues plaguing XboxOne and Series X since the game went live on February 25. FromSoftware recognized this problem and confirmed on Twitter the problems should be resolved.
Windows Central appears to confirm this, stating players on “Calibrations Ver. 1.0.2.1 and app Ver. 1.02” can currently connect to Xbox Live with no notable problems.
The Xbox connection issues are just one of several problems FromSoftware has been working to rectify on launch weekend across multiple platforms.PS5 players, in particular, suffered from a bug causing the game to not save properly which, given the game’s difficulty, could be catastrophic for some players. However, the aforementioned patch appears to have rectified these issues as well for PS5 players along with various technical problems on PC.
Problems aside,Elden Ringhas been met with near-universal acclaim from critics, saying it is easily one of the best Souls titles FromSoftware has ever made. Common praise has been heaped on the game’s storytelling for being more at the game’s forefront than games likeDark SoulsorBloodborne, both of which require players to dig around the respective game worlds to understand. The refined gameplay was also praised for offering players more choices in how to tackle encounters without sacrificing difficulty.
Elden Ringis currently available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
