In GQ’s Men of the Year issue where he was featured on the cover, Holland revealed the words of wisdom that Olsen gave him to get him out of his rut: “‘No’ is a full sentence. ‘No’ is enough.'“TheSpider-Manstarexplained that he is an impossible people pleaser and that he has a tendency to go above and beyond in his work, even if it means pushing his body past its limits. In fact, during one of his worst moments, he threw up immediately after a press conference, saying he had felt burnt out and overworked.

He said that he was under a lot of pressure to finish his work that day, and it was the first time he ever felt like giving up. But after speaking with Olsen, he says he’s been sticking up more for himself. In another interview withEsquire, he revealed that he refused to wear a wig for his upcoming movie,Spider-Man: No Way Home, even after producers urged him to. He also voiced his concerns about a particular scene in the movie to director Jon Watts, which led to rewrites and improvements by the creative team.

Olsen says she’s not one to shy away from saying ‘no’ herself. She says that she listens to her gut and will say ‘no’ in any work situation where she feels uncomfortable. It’s actually something that she’s learned from her own twin sisters, Mary-Kate and Ashley, who have had their own fair share of time in the spotlight.

Olsen says she remembers the two of them ‘isolating’ the word ‘no’ growing up, and she saw first-hand how empowering it can be. Given that she is a prominent figure inthe Marvel Cinematic Universe as Wanda Maximoff, knowing when to say ‘no’ is surely an important skill for her to have.
