The upcoming exhibitionLiving with The Walking Dead, presented by Museum of the Moving Image (MoMI) in New York City in partnership with AMC, opens on June 25 and will run through January 1. The exhibition will explore the origins, production, fandom, and impact of the long-running AMC seriesThe Walking Dead.

The display will feature life-size mannequins of the characters, costumes, prosthetics, busts, props, action figures, scripts, storyboards, and more. Staying loyal to the show’s dedicated fan base, the poster was hand drawn by illustrator andTWDfan Kirk Manley. “Working with MoMI and AMC on the creation of theirLiving with The Walking Deadcampaign has been a wonderful and rewarding experience. I am extremely honored that they chose my work to illustrate and bring to life what I think will be a quintessentialWalking Deadfan experience,” shares Manley. “As an illustrator, you dream of jobs like this, working with talented creative people on a subject matter that not only happens to be a fan favorite but is also a personal one. Truly a once in a lifetime assignment.”

Manley’s resume boasts many impressive clients, including DC Comics, AMC Network, and Entertainment Weekly, and he has been featured onio9andGeek Tyrant. He currently co-hosts Podcastica’sMoon KnightPodcast about theMarvel Disney+ series with the same nameand has a self-published comic seriesZ-Girl. MoMI will host a poster signing with Manley on June 25 from 2-3 PM. The post-apocalyptic series first premiered on the network in 2010, based on Robert Kirkman, Tony Moore, and Charlie Adlard’s comic book series, and recently wrapped its eleventh and final season. The comics and TV show sparked a franchise which currently contains two spin-off series withthree in development, a variety of board games and video games, and a rollercoaster at England’s Thorpe Park. StarringNorman Reedus, Andrew Lincoln, and Melissa McBride, the series takes place in a zombie-filled world and follows a group of survivors learning to adapt to their new “hunt or be hunted” environment.

In addition to the exhibition, the museum will host a screening series calledFilms of the Dead: Romero and Co., with support by thestreaming platform Shudder. The series will showcasemovies by George A. Romero,starting with his 1968 cult classicNight of the Living Dead, along withEdgar Wright’sShaun of the Dead, Jim Jarmusch’sThe Dead Don’t Die,andZack Snyder’sDawn of the Dead.
