Now, the game’s newest event will feature the return of a fan-favorite element of pastFalloutgames for a limited time.
Fallout 76’s constant updates have added a significant amount of content to the game initially panned for a lack of things to do and lacking the franchise’s traditional NPCs. The massiveFallout Worldsupdate released last summer added customizable servers to the game for the first time, giving players free rein to change major aspects of their own personal worlds like jump height, removing fast travel, and even infinite ammo. Now,Fallout 76has officially announced the arrival of aliens to the game’s world of Appalachia, a popular side story in pastFalloutgames, with new enemies and cosmetics.

Bethesda officially announcedthe arrival of alien ships to Appalachiathrough the officialFalloutTwitter account with the event starting shortly after the post. From the event’s start through May 10, players will be able to find UFOs roaming the wild as random encounters. The introduction of aliens comes as a replacement for the ongoing Meat Week withFallout 76shelving the event after being plagued with several complaints from players about missing event rewards.
The return of aliens to the newestFalloutgame has been teased since last year withBethesda revealing in a content roadmapthat the game would feature the return of aliens to the franchise. Aliens have heavily featured in pastFalloutgames with a random event allowingFallout 4players to acquire an alien blaster pistol andFallout 3even featuring an event where the player is abducted by aliens and taken aboard the Zetan mothership.Fallout 76even already contains references to extraterrestrials with an alien blaster pistol able to be found in the game.
According to recent reports from Bethesda,Fallout 76’s newest extraterrestrial event is just the beginning of a long line of content set to be added to the game over the next several years.Fallout 76’s 2022 roadmap confirmed thatBethesda already has a 5 year plan forFallout 76with much of the game’s content through 2025 already planned. With 2022 already set to add new locations likeFallout 3’s The Pitt and the highly-anticipated return of Nuka-World set for later this year,Fallout 76will look to continue its positive upward trend and silence the game’s many critics.
