Several popular HBO shows, such asGame of Thrones,His Dark Materials, andWestworld, have very distinctive, memorable, and dramatic opening credit sequences. A creator who goes by the name “spliffiam” has created an opening credits sequence in the vein of those shows for the upcoming DC film,The Batman.
The Batman, which recently finished filming, will be introducing a new Caped Crusader–British actor Robert Pattinson. It will also be starring Zoe Kravitz as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Colin Farrell as Oswald Cobblepot/the Penguin, and Paul Dano as Riddler, among others. AlthoughThe Batmanalready has aGotham PD-focused HBO spin-off seriesin development, this fan-made opening imagines the film itself with an HBO-inspired title sequence instead.

The video features a 360, close-up pan of the Dark Knight’s suit and cowl, resembling the oneseen in images forThe Batman. The video is accompanied by the song “Something in the Way (Devonshire Mix)” by Nirvana. The slow pace of the song and the tone of Kurt Cobain’s voice create a dark, intense mood for the credit sequence.
The fan overlays the names of some of the cast of the film, including Andy Serkis, Alex Ferns, and Amber Sienna alongside Pattinson, Kravitz, Farrell, and Dano. Serkis will be playing Bruce Wayne’s butler Alfred Pennyworth, Alex Ferns will play Commissioner Pete Savage, while Amber Sienna is credited as playing a gentleman’s club hostess. Many other names could have been included in this title sequence. Actor Peter Sarsgaard will be playing District Attorney Gil Colson, John Turturro plays mob boss Carmine Falcone, andEternalsstar Barry Keoghanwill be Officer Stanley Merkel. James Gordon will be played byWestworldstar Jeffrey Wright, British actor Rupert Penry-Jones will be portraying Mayor Don Mitchell Jr., and twins Max and Charlie Carver will be appearing in roles that are currently being kept secret.
Directed by Matt Reeves,The Batmanwill follow Pattinson’s Caped Crusader during the early stages of his crime-fighting career. While the film appears to be at least partly an original story, fans have noted similarities between Reeves' film and the classic comic titledThe Long Halloween.
The Batmanofficially completed production in March 2021, after facing several delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite DC fans' disappointment over the lack of a standalone Ben AffleckBatmanmovie, interest in the Pattinson-led project remains high. An early teaser trailer released in August 2020 increased excitement for the next trailer and for the movie itself.
The Batmanis scheduled to be released in theatres on July 08, 2025.
