Robert Downey Jr. as Iron-Man, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, Tom Hiddleston as Loki — the list goes on and on. If there’s one thing the world has learned from Marvel Studios' epic 10-year run, it’s that the right casting can be the difference between a successful, long-lasting franchise and, well, a box-office flop. Something of which Kevin Feige seems to be well aware when it comes to theFantastic Four.

In the case of theFantastic Four, it seemed that every iteration of the iconic superhero team was cursed with an awkward assemblage of actors. While that probably wasn’t the sole reason for the failure of the films, it surely contributed to it. Now thatFeige is in charge of the next reboot, could Marvel finally deliver a perfect cast and put an end to the franchise’s turbulent streak?

In a recent interview with ComicBook.com, Feige shared the studio’s approach to findingthe nextFantastic Four. The strategy they are looking to employ is not so far off from what they’ve been doing all this time — Feige would like a combination of star power and newcomers to join the project, explaining that choosing from both classes of talent has worked well for them in the past. While he didn’t reveal any names that are currently in the running, he did mention Simu Liu, the star ofShang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, as an example of how a relatively obscure actor could lead a title and still put movie-goers in cinema seats.

Feige may be tight-lipped about his top picks, but fans have made it very clear who they would like to see in the film. So far, celebrity super-coupleJohn Krasinski and Emily Bluntare the most popular choices for the Fantastic Four’s lead scientists, and people are adamant that they’d make the perfect Reed Richards and Sue Storm. That said, both actors have opposing thoughts on the proposed castings — while Krasinski has a genuine interest in the part, Blunt is less keen on playing a superhero, stating that those roles are just not for her.

It will be interesting to see who Marvel Studios will end up choosing forthe covetedFantastic Fourroles. The entire project has been shrouded in secrecy since it was first announced, but with Feige andSpider-Man: Far From Homedirector Jon Watts both on board, fans can rest assured that the upcoming film will be one heck of a ride.
