Be it an old mechanic that has been refurbished to better fit the recent game and be approached in a way new fans can understand or an altogethernew features that have amazed players. These are by far thebest features ofFire Emblem Engagethat many fans of the franchise hope will be kept for future releasesin one format or another.
8Bonding Rings To Improve Stats
While it’s understandable for players to assume that the Engage Rings themselves may not continue into other future titles of theFire Emblemfranchise, whenever those may be. The secondary rings players can craft by using bond fragments may still have a chance. The bond ringsplayers can create are caused through the bonds that Emblem character has with other characters from their worlds.
These rings may not give a unit any fancy abilities, but it can still be made the most of when attempting to improve certain stats. Future games may keep something similar to this that distance themselves from the otherFire Emblemtitle’s characters but also allows for further bonuses.
7Adopting Adorable Animals
AsFire Emblem Engagecontinues the theme of a main hub location for the player to explore just likeFire Emblem Three Houses, the Somniel has space for the player to adopt a wide variety of animals on their travels. Although the player can’tstroke them like Sommie, these adopted animals still have their uses when collecting vital resources needed to not only cook but also improve the player’s weaponry.
As players can assume future titles will continue to allow players to upgrade their gear, it would be interesting to continue to keep animals as something player’s can own. Perhaps it can even be improved upon to allow players to tend to the animals they own.
6Hints On Improving Supports
Ever sinceAwakening, support conversations have become an important part of players building their teams. Although there isn’t any support bonuses anymore between characters in the recent title unless it’s the main character, this doesn’t stop these support conversations from being influential.

When reaching the late game players will unlock Seadall the dancer as well as fortune-teller. When visiting him in the evening at the Somniel players can have each one of their unit’s fortune read. This not only gives a fun bit of flavor text but also suggests who that unit should stick by in the next battle, which will have an increased chance of boosting their support.
5Keeping The Back-Up Unit Type
In pastFire Emblemtitles, a player’s units would only be shown to be in one class which had its own weaknesses and strengths, in a way to make this game easier to understand for new players of the franchise. Each character has not only their main class but the type it fits into. For example, armored and flying were already unit types that were in the game, but now players can easily see the difference of each type.
Alongside this change,Fire Emblemhas addednew unit typesfor players to experiment with in their teams. One of the most useful of these types is back-up, this unit type allows that unit to help attack an enemy during another character’s turn as long as they are close to them.
4Interesting Mini-games
Besides the usual content that past fans of the franchise are fond of,Fire Emblem Engagealso includes other activities that break away from the constant defeating of enemy units on different maps through each chapter. While exploring the Somniel and by gradually advancing the story players will unlock a large variety of mini-games.
Besides being an entertaining change of pace they can also be beneficial to a player’s run of the campaign. Especially as fishing returns fromFire Emblem Three Houseswhich can be used for meals as well as Strength Training with Alfred can temporarily increase Alear’s stats.
3New Battle Features Like The Break Mechanic
Apart from the favored return ofthe weapon trianglethat allows for certain units' weaponry to be vulnerable or strong against other weapons,Fire Emblem Engagetook this a step further through introducing the break mechanic to the battlefield. Players can use this system to their advantage to prevent an enemy from retaliating to a hit as well as opening up the enemy to another attack from a second unit without the fear of them being hit either.

This mechanic goes both ways as well, as players can mistakenly open themselves up to such a vulnerability and lose a unit. Continuing to use and grow this feature in future titles may open Fire Emblem up to even more exciting and strategic plays.
2Post-Battle Exploration
AsFire Emblemhas evolved into itsnow prevalent 3D art style, the maps have also been changed along with it to create fully rendered battlefields for players to fight across. While these maps were impressive in Fire Emblem Three Houses, players were unable to appreciate them outside their chapters however, this has now been changed.
After completing a chapter battle or skirmish inFire Emblem Engage, the game will then send the player into a post-battle exploration of the map. This allows them to roam freely on the land they once fought on, talk to allies as well as collect resources dotted around the map.
1A Fully-Voiced Protagonist
PastFire Emblemgames had little to no recorded dialogue from the main protagonist while other characters in recent games had the entirety of their lines recorded. However,Fire Emblem Engagedecided that with the recent game, even Alear, the main character would have all their lines voiced and players are loving it.
While the story ofFire Emblem Engagemay not be every player’s favorite, it can’t be denied that having Alear be voiced in all cut scenes and conversations makes for an even more interesting story. Many players can’t imagine returning to amainly silent protagonistafter this due to how well the story flows when the main character can speak for themselves.
