ThroughoutFinal Fantasy 16, players will encounter Dominants and Eikons in all shapes, sizes, and forms.Final Fantasy 16protagonist Clive, for example, has a handful considering the Dark versions of himself, his Limit Break, his Primed form, and his Ifrit Risen form. For most Dominants, fans will get to see at least two forms: Semi-Primed and Primed. Unfortunately, Dion is not one of those Dominants where players get to see both forms.
InFinal Fantasy 16, the Semi-Primed state is a combination of the Dominant’s human form with some traits and powers of their Eikon. Clive’s body, for example, is lit up in flames with a molten rock depiction akin to Ifrit. Cid becomes blue while volts of Ramuh’s electricity surge through them, Benedikta becomes harpy-like with wings, and Hugo gets covered in gold markings and powerful rock-like elements of Titan. There is so much chaos inFinal Fantasy 16that players would be forgiven if they didn’t realize that, not once, do they see Dion in a Semi-Primed form, something actor Stewart Clarke tells Game Rant he wishes happened.

Clarke describes Dion as the epitome of “dutiful,” and perhaps for that reason Dion never operates in half-measures. Players will see him take the battlefield plenty of times in his fullPrimed form as Bahamut, despite the cost to his health, but they never see Dion in a Semi-Primed State. Whether Dion would adopt dragon-like scales, wings, and/or powerful divine elements is left entirely up to a player’s imagination, something Dion calls to see the results of too. In the interview, Clarke said,
I just wish we’d seen semi-primed Dion Bahamut form at some point. Fan artists, hit me with your interpretations!
TheFinal Fantasycommunity is full of creative players, in and outside of the games. Fan art in the video game industry is nothing new either, and as Clarke points out, this is a prime area for fan artistry. It would be great to see whatFinal Fantasy 16players think Semi-Primed Dion would look like, now that the lack thereof has been pointed out. Of course, it’s also something Square Enix could explore throughFinal Fantasy 16DLC, if it so chose. As Clarke said, “If enough people care about him, maybe we’ll get to see more [in DLC]! Here’s looking at Square Enix, ha!”
Prior to the release ofFF16, Square Enix was clear that DLC was not planned and would be dependent upon player reception. Its critical success already suggests DLC could be possible, while there is plenty of content fans would want to see in DLC: more Dion, more Benedikta, something about the missing Eikon Leviathan, and so forth. In fact, Yoshi-P even recently mentioned he’d love to see aFinal Fantasy 16DLC where Cid was playable, though that’s personal preference and no sort of confirmation at this time. What’s clear is that, whether it’s fan art or DLC, there’s a lot more many fans want to see come of the game.
Final Fantasy 16is available now on PS5.
