Final Fantasy 16has been out for almost a year now, but its Rising Tide DLC has brought players back for more of its standout protagonist, Clive Rosfield, as well as its glorious boss battles. As players confrontFinal Fantasy 16’s bosses and various enemies, they are given access to a vast arsenal of abilities via the game’s Eikons — magical beings of godlike strength who grant their hosts, Dominants, otherworldly powers.

CountingFinal Fantasy 16’s Rising Tide DLC, there are now eight Eikons, each with unique abilities that can benefit Clive in combat. While it’s possible to make an effective rotation using any of the game’s Eikons, there are still some with abilities that outperform the rest. As such, it’s worth considering how they rank in terms of what benefits they can provide.

The following tier list is organized according to the abilities that each Eikon provides, taking note of their combined Stagger power, damage output, and overall functionality.

S-Tier Eikons in Final Fantasy 16: Shiva and Odin

When it comes toFinal Fantasy 16’s best Eikons, it’s arguably impossible to deny Shiva and Odin the top spot. Together, they boast some of the best Stagger power and damage output in the game, especially when it comes to AoE attacks.Shiva’s Cold Snap abilityhas been deemed “broken” by the community due to its ability to freeze enemies for an extended period, even after executing a Perfect Dodge.

Furthermore, Shiva’s Diamond Dust ability has some of the highest Stagger power in the game. Odin’s Eikonic abilities, on the other hand, revolve around executing hisZantetsuken ability, which deals some of the best AoE damage in the game when used correctly.

A-Tier Eikons in Final Fantasy 16: Bahamut and Garuda

Falling just below Odin and Shiva are Bahamut and Garuda, who both still provide solid Eikonic abilities.Bahamut’s Gigaflare abilitycan deal extensive damage to enemies, especially when those enemies are Staggered. Bahamut also features passive Stagger-inducing abilities like Satellite and Impulse that shouldn’t be ignored.

Garuda’s signature Deadly Embrace abilityis useful for pulling enemies to the ground and stunning them for a brief period once their health reaches 50%. Additionally, Garuda’s other abilities dish out some of the best Stagger power of any ability inFinal Fantasy 16.

B-Tier Eikon in Final Fantasy 16: Phoenix

Despite belonging to Clive’s brother, Joshua,Final Fantasy 16’s Pheonix Eikontakes the middle spot when it comes to the game’s best Eikons. However, this ultimately means it provides a decent amount of damage and Stagger power, so it can still be highly effective. Specifically, Phoenix’s Flames of Rebirth skill is a powerful AoE ability that not only deals high damage but also covers a wide radius, making it especially effective against large groups. Phoenix Shift also can’t be overlooked on account of its ability to let Clive “blink” and close the gap between him and his enemies.

C-Tier Eikons in Final Fantasy 16: Titan and Leviathan

Coming in close to the bottom of the list ofFinal Fantasy 16’s best Eikons are Titan and Leviathan.Leviathan was just added to Clive’s arsenalin The Rising Tide as the eighth and final Eikon, but it provides some rather underwhelming numbers when it comes to damage and Stagger power. That being said, Leviathan features more ranged abilities than any other Eikon in the game. Titan’s abilities, on the other hand, are very average in just about every way, despite perhaps the raw power of Raging Fists.

D-Tier Eikon in Final Fantasy 16: Ramuh

It’s unfortunate that Ramuh finds his way to the bottom of the list ofFinal Fantasy 16’s best Eikons, especially considering Cid, the game’s breakout character, was the Dominant of Ramuh.Ramuh’s Lightning Rod abilityis arguably his best, but his others don’t deal nearly enough damage or Stagger power to be worth equipping — especially when so many better options are available. Still, Lightning Rod is one ability players shouldn’t sleep on, as it can wipe out weaker enemy groups.
