On a Reddit thread begun by user Shadow13267,Fortnitefans are expressing hope that Chapter 5 looks back to old maps and brings back POIs that are smaller but with much more detail. The original post specifically calls out Chapter 4 for lacking residential POIs with separate houses or other interesting elements to explore. To support the argument, the post even has images of an old map along with the map from Chapter 4. Residential POIs are circled in both images, showing that the old map had far more POIs with houses and other interesting things to see.
The post certainly sparked lots of debate among gamers with arguments on both sides of the issue.Chapter 4 ofFortniteimproved graphics with Unreal Engine 5 features, but some think that these graphics aren’t being put to their full potential in the current map being offered. While there are some defenders of the Chapter 4 map and its existing POIs, many others are echoing the original complaint. Still, others have suggested that the real issue with Chapter 4 is not a lack of detail in POIs but a lack of diversity that is being interpreted as less detail overall.
Some have argued thatFortniteOG’ssuccess has put the game in a difficult positionas Epic Games faces the question of where to take the title in the future. It appears that nostalgia for old maps can be added to the challenges the developer will have to contend with as it decides what to do with Chapter 5 and beyond. However they feel about old and new maps, fans will have to wait a bit longer to see which directionFortnitegoes with maps in the coming update.
