Considering the sheer number of copiesRed Dead Redemption 2sold, it’s no surprise that the game has even been played by nontraditional gamers. However, one such nontraditional gamer has taken their love ofRed Dead Redemption 2to the extreme.
Reddit user ApeWatcher posted an image of their 65 year old dad, claiming that he plays theRed Dead Redemption 2single-player campaignfor hours each day, and has actually managed to complete the story over 30 times. ApeWatcher said that they’ve attempted to get their dad to play other games, but apparently he’s only interested in playingRed Dead Redemption 2, and even likes the game so much that he has someRDR2merch.

Considering how many times ApeWatcher’s dad has completedRed Dead Redemption 2, one would think that he would have 100% completion. However, ApeWatcher claims that his dad was unable to get100% completion inRed Dead Redemption 2due to frustration with some of the game’s gambling challenges.
One would also think that ApeWatcher’s dad may want to try theRed Dead Online multiplayer mode, but apparently he’s only concerned with playingRed Dead Redemption 2’s story. WhereasRed Dead Redemption 2’s story mode earned near-universal acclaim from critics, the same can’t be said for the multiplayer mode. While it has its fans, it has also been criticized for a variety of reasons, including a lack of new content when compared to GTA Online, as well as having some aggressive microtransactions.
In the comments, the conversation turned to Rockstar potentially doing aRed Dead Redemptionremaster so ApeWatcher’s dad can see what happens next in the story. The originalRed Dead Redemptionis playable on Xbox One thanks to the backward compatibility program, but it’s not available on PS4 without a PlayStation Now subscription. ApeWatcher’s dad owns a PlayStation 4, but PlayStation Now may not necessarily be ideal, depending on their Internet situation. Unfortunately, Rockstar has not made any indication that it plans on doing aRed Dead Redemptionremakeor remaster, so ApeWatcher’s dad may not to get to see what happens next for quite some time.
The general consensus is thatRockstar’s next game isGrand Theft Auto 6, but maybe if ApeWatcher’s dad andRDRfans are lucky, Rockstar could release aRed Dead Redemptionremaster to fill the gap in the meantime.
