Earlier today, the official reveal trailer forGod of War: Ragnarokwas unveiled during the PlayStation Showcase event. The trailer offered a great deal of insight in terms of what to expect fromGod of War: Ragnarok. Although, unbeknownst to someGod of Warfans, PlayStation has revealed even more details that weren’t fully detailed during the reveal trailer.

Up until now, not much was known about the latest installment in theGod of Warseries. Following the brief teaser shown during a PlayStation event last year, the only glimpse ofGod of War: Ragnarokfans had received during that time was ateaser image posted by Cory Barlogon Twitter. While this trailer showed off a lot, the finer details of the game were revealed via PlayStation Blog.

As summarized by Twitter user Nibellion, the PlayStation Blog post explained that Freya from the previousGod of Warand Thor, who made a brief appearance in a post-credits scene.Thor has been the subject ofGod of Warfan theoriessince he was seen at the end of the previous game and was assumed by many to be the lead villain ofGod of War: Ragnarok. Though, his relation to Freya and how the two of them might coincide with one another during the main story might lead to bigger things.

In addition, the blog post also confirmed that all nine realms will be featured in the game and will be available for players to explore. In the previousGod of War,only a limited number of the realms were actually playable. TheGod of War: Ragnaroktrailerdid show off a number of new locations that weren’t featured in the original game, so it will be interesting to see what the other realms have to offer.

While it was fairly evident that some characters would be returning forGod of War: Ragnarok, such asMimir, Brok, and Sindri, what’s considerably more exciting is what some of the new characters will add to the ongoing narrative. Thor was only shown for a few seconds and didn’t even receive any speaking lines. Not to mention that Tyr was only ever mentioned in passing, so to have him play a key role in this new game should be quite engaging.

The game did not receive a confirmed release date, which most fans have come to expect at this point. WhileGod of War: Ragnarokis scheduled to release in 2022, there’s no way to know when specifically it will release. Then again, it will likely release before some of the other games shown during the showcase event, such asSpider-Man 2and theWolverinegame.

God of War: Ragnarokis set to release on PS4 and PS5 in 2022.
