Gotham Knightshas finally been released, and fans can head out into an original Gotham City from WB Games Montreal. At this point, fans are probably trying out Nightwing, Robin, Batgirl, and Red Hood to see which character meshes best with their particular preferences. Otherwise, fans may be dedicated to a character for one reason or another and plan to stick with them the whole way through. If that is not enough in terms of playstyle customization, fans can eitherchoose to playGotham Knightsentirely solo or in two-player co-op, with dynamic duos able to team up in the open world.

This gives fansa ton of exciting ways to experienceGotham Knights. Each character has their own style of attacks to consider, as well as a number of traversal methods players will combine to make their way through Gotham. As players pursue case file quests and scrounge for collectibles, it will be interesting to see whether fans choose to play in single-player or two-player. Fans may play however they like, but it should be noted that in single-player they will miss out on one ofGotham Knights’ most satisfying mechanics: co-op tag-team takedowns.

Gotham Knights’ Co-Op Features Tag-Team Takedowns

Tag-team takedowns are set up inGotham Knightswith one player grabbing an enemy and the other player interacting with them. This begins a satisfying animation where both characters are involved in taking a thug down, and is a mechanic that will only be available in co-op as a result.

If companion NPCs could accompany players inGotham Knights’ open-world Gotham City, players could freely perform co-op takedowns whenever they wanted. NPC companions could be added similarly, where a character of players’ choosing could run around alongside them, though there would be a lot for WB Games Montreal to micromanage with such gameplay. If players want to traverse dynamically, the companion NPC would have to know how to do the same.

Moreover,Gotham Knights’ two-player co-opdoes not let each Knight enter into cutscenes. Only the player who is hosting their open world at the time is depicted, as if the second player was never there beforehand. This is maybe something that WB Games Montreal had considered during development, and ultimately it may not be worth adding an entire companion NPC just for tag-team takedowns.

Gotham Knights’ Co-Op Takedowns Will Be Satisfying in Heroic Assault

If fans end up truly enjoying the co-op inGotham Knights, they will be thrilled to have more multiplayer action arriving at the end of November.Gotham Knights’ four-player Heroic Assault modewill be that boon for players, introducing an arena-like battle mode with thirty floors of enemies to fight.

Heroic Assault is separate fromGotham Knights’ base game, but will nonetheless be a fun experience if it can manage to keep its arena floors diverse, procedural, and rewarding. It is in Heroic Assault where co-op tag-team takedowns will surely be the most exciting, since fans will potentially be able to see two tag-team takedowns initiated at once. Havingall four ofGotham Knights’ playable protagonistsflipping about to take down a couple of heavy thugs will be incredibly cinematic, though it is still a shame that players cannot perform these takedowns while in single-player.

Incentives like this are a great reason why fans might want to look into co-op in the first place, however, giving one gameplay mode a feature that the other does not have to make players curious about trying it. In the meantime, before Heroic Assault launches, players will have all ofGotham Knights' base game to enjoy.
