Warner Bros. was previously set for four huge releases this year, includingLEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga,Gotham Knights,Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League, andHogwarts Legacy. It’s a solid offering across incredibly popular IPs, but they are also all evidence of COVID-19’s impact on the industry. Each of these games has already been delayed once, andSuicide Squad: Kill The Justice Leaguemay be delayed again, following a new report.
Many believed that at least one of these would be delayed, with the likely candidate seemingly beingHogwarts Legacy.Rumors emerged around this, until a tweet by a higher-up at Warner Bros suggestedGotham KnightsandHogwarts Legacywere on track to release this year. Now, according to Bloomberg Journalist Jason Schreier, Suicide Squad has been “quietly delayed” into 2023, per sources familiar with its development.

It’s worth noting that Warner Bros. itself has not yet responded to this, but it is likely to do so sometime in the new few weeks, if not days. However, fans online are having a mixed reception. It’s not entirely surprising that one of Warner Bros. titles was delayed, but some are surprised that it’sSuicide Squad: Kill The Justice Leaguebecause it has had more marketing released thanGotham KnightsandHogwarts Legacy.
Why Gotham Knights is Trending on Twitter
Aside from that, many are also quick to note that fans were “never” going to get all of these games in one year, while others are worried aboutGotham Knightspotentially being delayed too. While the aforementioned tweet is reassuring, this game having less out in the wild thanSuicide Squad: Kill The Justice Leaguehas certainly drawn attention. Now, withLEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Sagahaving a release date of April 5, it’s entirely possible thatGotham Knightsis a mid-to-late summer game.
In that case, there’s still time for Warner Bros. Interactive to pick up marketing on the game, so it may not be time to cry foul just yet. However, should Warner Bros. Interactive confirm this very likely delay ofSuicide Squad: Kill The Justice League, it will raise questions regarding delays forGotham KnightsandHogwarts Legacy. It may be that fans get 3 out of 4 games this year, but the uncertainty is there for the latter two.
Will Gotham Knights Get Delayed?
Fans will just have to wait and see when/if Warner Bros. confirms this delay. It may not confirm release dates, but presumably, the company would also mention at this time any potential delays forGotham KnightsorHogwarts Legacytoo. It’s a really hard call on if either will be delayed or not, and the fact thatSuicide Squad: Kill The Justice Leaguehas the most marketingout of the three of them doesn’t give a reliable baseline for comparison.
Looking at the two, though, it seemsHogwarts Legacyis more likely to be delayedagain thanGotham Knights. This is especially true if, instead of a summer release, Warner Bros. Interactive looks to only release one game in the second half of the year, making a big fall/holiday release. Otherwise, if these two are not delayed, fans can expect to learn more about them in the coming months.
Gotham Knightsis set to release in 2022 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
