GTA Onlineplayers have been reporting that when creating a new character, the introductory process locks up, keeping them from doing anything. The problem seems to be tied to the Executive career tree, with players finding that they can’t move their character after they enter theirGTA Onlinebusiness, or are unable to access their CEO computer to continue the process. This is particularly problematic, as not only are players unable to continue the game, but once the process has begun, any additional characters won’t be able to access the monetary or career bonus, as the player has technically claimed it.
Technically, a player can still try out the game by creating another character, but doing so without the monetary and business bonus is understandably a considerable disadvantage. At this time, there are no known solutions aside from avoiding the Executive career, and players are encouraged to reach out to Rockstar Support for assistance with the matter. This bug has only popped up recently, leading players to believe that something likely went wrong withGTA Online’s most recent update. At this point, all players can do to avoid this problem is to either stick with an existing character, if they have one, or to choose a differentGTA Onlinestarting career, which seem to be unaffected by the bug.
GTA Onlinehas had some pretty significant bugs and glitches over the years that have impacted gameplay. The game has had notoriously long loading times, and thePC version ofGTA Onlinehad a major exploitin recent history that could corrupt players' accounts. The majority of these issues have been fixed or improved upon, and this bug will surely be patched out or otherwise resolved at some point. That said, having newcomers to the title immediately stumble into a major bug like this one isn’t a good look for the game. With any luck, new players will receive a quick solution from Rockstar Support and a permanent fix will be deployed soon.
