Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Editionshould have been a joyful trip down memory lane. However, the remastered collection has arguably been anything but that for fans of the franchise. From game-breaking bugs and glitches totypos onGTA 3store signs, players of the trilogy are left with nothing but a bitter taste in their mouths as a myriad of mistakes plague the experience. Now, even more frustration from fans is being aimed at an unfair instant kill bridge glitch.
For the uninitiated,Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - Definitive Editionis developer Grove Street Games' attempt to remaster three classicGTAgames withupgrades like updated textures and resolution. All-in-all, the shocking launch state of the release has left fans stumped and disheartened, as many trusted that Grove Street Games would have handled the trilogy with more care. After all, the originals are three of themost acclaimedGTAsof all time. But amidst other issues with the collection’s troubled launch, more glitches are still being discovered to this day, including this illegitimate fake bridge. Captured while roaming aroundVice City, the quick clip shows the player approaching a pontoon bridge that is registered on the mini-map.
However, as Reddit user WhiteNight0204 crosses the bridge, the path to the vessel inexplicably causes them to phase through and drown in the crashing blue waves below. For those who haven’t playedVice City,Tommy is one protagonist in theGTAserieswho cannot swim, so even touching the ocean may cause him to die. But that’s not all yet, as the penalty for making a watery grave takes away all of Tommy’s weapons, which is a rather harsh punishment for a game that takes place on a beach.
After uploading the video, the post received over 200 upvotes as replies flooded in, cracking and making jokes at theGrand Theft Auto: The Trilogy’sexpense. Surprisingly, this is not even the first invisible bridge in the remastered collection to be thrust into the spotlight, as another one can absurdly be found inGrand Theft Auto: San Andreas.
In summary, various blunders like this have shamingly spoiled the re-release of these industry-defining games. Despite that, there is light at the end of the tunnel, asRockstar Games has updated theGTA Trilogy, which makes Tommy’s adventures inVice Cityrun along a little smoother.
