A hilarious bug fromThe Last Of Usshows an NPC reaching what was described as a new stage of infection. Throughout the game’s runtime, players will encounter any number of enemies that will interact with them in bizarre ways. This “new” stage of infection is just one of a number of glitches that can be found throughoutThe Last of Usvideo games.
Way back in 2013,The Last of Ushit store shelves and digital storefronts worldwide. The game was a massive critical and financial success, winning several game of the year awards and currently holds a 95 Metacritic score. The game would go on to sell over 20 million copies, andThe Last Of Us Part 1remake was recently releasedfor the PlayStation 5. To this day, however, fans are still spotting bizarre glitches within the game.

Since both versions of the game were released, fans have noticed all kinds of bizarre bugs scattered throughout the main story. For example, one bug inThe Last of Usmade it look like an NPC was being snared by VecnafromStranger Things. More recently, Reddit user ThermalFlask shared a new glitch that showed an enemy NPC floating through the air, joking that it was a new stage of infection.
In games, there are typically four stages of infection. InThe Last of Usgames, eachstage of infection is more difficult to deal withthan the last and is categorized as the runners, the stalkers, and the clickers, who will then sometimes turn into a bloater or shambler.The Last of Us Part 2introduced players to a new terrifying creature known as The Rat King in one of the game’s more horrifying sections, but for the most part, the infected remained the same from the first game. Thankfully none of these infected forms involve flying - for now at least.
Since the original game debuted, the franchise has expanded in several unexpected ways. The first game received a story-based DLC that went into Ellie’s background and was remastered for the PlayStation 4. The second game,The Last of Us Part 2, was released in 2020 and took the game in some unexpected and controversial directions. A film adaption for the first game was also in development before the decision was made to turn the story into an HBO series. Currently,The Last of UsHBO series is set to be released in 2023. At the moment it isn’t entirely clear what direction the video games will take but, until then, fans can probably expect to see more bugs like flying enemies for some time.
The Last of Us Part 1is available now for the PlayStation 5 and is in development for PC.
