Hogwarts Legacyhas several magical potions for players to brew, from the defensive Edarus potion that turns the player character’s skin into rocky armor to the invaluable healing Wiggenweld potion. However, there are many other potions in theHarry Potterfranchise thatHogwarts Legacycould introduce in a possible sequel. Altogether,Hogwarts Legacydoesn’t have a vast range of potions for players to brew or buy from J.Pippins Potions in the open-world RPG game, so there is plenty of room for more options.

Some ofHogwarts Legacy’s best potionsinclude Thunderbrew, which summons a protective storm around the player. However, there are some iconicHarry Potterpotions in the game only reserved for cut scene moments, or which the game misses out entirely. The limited amount of potions gives a lot of wiggle room for new ones to appear in a potential Hogwarts Legacysequel, with some perhaps better choices than others.
5Mandrake Restorative Draught
Mandrakes are some of the most iconic potion-brewing plants in theHarry Potterfranchise from their widely-recognized ear-piercing scream. However,Hogwarts Legacy’s mandrakesonly appear as combat plants, and it’s not possible to use their leaves to make potions such as the mandrake restorative draught used in reversing the effects of petrification by a basilisk. However, players can still use the screaming mandrakes to stun and damage enemies that are not used to the deafening cries of a mandrake.

Although there’s no story reason to have mandrake restorative draught inHogwarts Legacy, it’s something that could be introduced in a potential Hogwarts Legacy sequel if players encounter new beasts like basilisks. It could also extend the experiences with mandrakes, with the player brewing the leaves to form the healing draught as an alternative type of health potion.
4Love Or Friendship Potion
AlthoughHogwarts Legacydoesn’t include romance, love, or friendship potions like Armortentia could be a way to introduce romance or other types of friendship possibilities in a potential sequel. Despite being banned at Hogwarts, they could cause all sorts of trouble as a fun way of introducing platonic and comedic romance encounters to the game, as love potions do in theHarry Potterbooks.
Interestingly, there is a statue of the medieval potion inventor Gregory the Smarmy where players can also find aHogwarts LegacyLibrary Annex field guide page. The page states the medieval wizard invented a potion called Gregory’s Ununctous Unction, a potion when drunk, which makes the drinker believe whoever gave them the potion is their best friend. It could be a great potion to make allies in combat, or trick characters in quests.
3Wolfsbane Potion
Except for Dark Mongrel enemy NPCs,Hogwarts Legacy’s werewolf tapestry roomis the game’s closest inclusion of werewolves. Introducing werewolves into a potential sequel could increase enemy and potion variety, allowing players to brew the Wolfsbane potion, a potion that helps sufferers of lycanthrope condition retain their minds when transformed.

The Wolfsbane potion is also said to be very difficult to make, so it could be interesting to brew a potion that requires more extensive ingredients or prerequisites to make in a possible werewolf-themed quest line. It could be especially interesting if players must try to brew the potion and collect its ingredients undetected to protect the identity of a possible werewolf companion or other significant NPC character.
2Veritaserum (Truth Telling Potion)
Hogwarts Legacydoesn’t have a morality systemand doesn’t judge players for their in-game actions and choice. However, with or without a morality system, a follow-up game could introduce more dialogue options to give players a bigger range of “good” or “bad” pathway choices to pick from, potentially making things more interesting if players could combine dialogue choices with potions or spells.

For instance, players interested in following a dark wizard path could utilize Umbridge’s deplorable use of the truth-telling potion, Veritaserum, to unveil the truth from other characters. Choosing whether to use such potions alongside spells like Unforgivable Curses could enable players to experiment with different moral choices.
1Polyjuice Potion
One of the funniest moments inHogwarts Legacyinvolves the Polyjuice Potion and Professor Black. However, players don’t get to brew the potion, as it’s contained within a cutscene. That said, players can walk around freely in their new disguise in one of the most hilarious parts of the game that’s reflective of Ron and Harry using the Polyjuice potion to transform into Crabbe and Goyle inHarry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.
Hogwarts Legacycouldintroduce the Polyjuice potionin different ways and it could be fun for players to brew the potion to transform into a wider range of NPCs freely. This could create some potentially comedic and exciting moments, particularly if it grants players access to secret areas they might not otherwise get to explore.
Hogwarts Legacyis available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S, with a Switch version releasing November 14.
