Professor Matilda Weasley, who will be voiced by Lesley Nicol, will serve asHogwarts Legacy’s Deputy Headmistress. Being a Weasley, she sports the iconic red hair that has come to define the family, and will likely serve as a mentor figure to the player, given that Headmaster Phineas Nigellus Black is infamous for his uncaring attitude towards his students. Unlike Phineas, Matilda has never before been referenced in pastHarry Pottermaterial, meaning the fate of her and theotherHogwarts Legacyprofessorsis in the hands of the team behind the game. It is almost certain, however, that she will play a big role in helping the player adapt to life at Hogwarts at the beginning of the game.
Thoughfans expected a Weasley inHogwarts Legacy, Matilda was not what most had in mind when devising early theories, and the relatively unknown nature of her character gives players a lot to look forward to. Almost certainly having been sorted into Gryffindor, as is tradition for a Weasley, Matilda will likely sport many of the traits that define her descendants, working courageously to overcome any challenges she and the player may face. The relationship between her and Slytherin Headmaster Phineas may come to mirror that of Severus Snape and Albus Dumbledore in many ways, though fans will have to wait until the release ofHogwarts Legacyto see how it ends.
While several memorable characters such asPeeves the Poltergeist will be inHogwarts Legacy, the presence of Matilda Weasley in particular will greatly enhance the game.
