Hogwarts Legacywas well-received for the way it captured the world ofHarry Potterin such faithful detail. While huge aspects of Hogwarts' student life are recreated perfectly, there are some glaring omissions that did not sit right with fans.
In particular, the absence of Quidditch inHogwarts Legacywas a huge shock to many fans, with the magical sport being one of the defining elements of the Hogwarts School experience. While it is understandable that a full-scale recreation of the sport may have been difficult to achieve, a potential sequel toHogwarts Legacywould do well to include the sport in some capacity, even if through unconventional manners.

Quidditch’s Current Representation in Hogwarts Legacy
As it stands, players can not engage inQuidditch inHogwarts Legacy. Of course, at points during exploration, players will find many nods towards the sport, with fans even being able to visit the school’s iconic Quidditch field.
The title does offer somelore explanation as to why Quidditch is canceledfor the year, with a student being injured during the Quidditch finals of the previous year. While it is nice that there is some in-game justification for Quidditch’s absence, it is hard to not label its omission as a huge missed opportunity for the title.
Players can still engage in broom-based competition, though, withHogwarts Legacybeing home to broom races where players can try to beat the times of other students. SinceHogwarts Legacyis so expansive, the additional implementation of a fully-fledged sport may have been a big ask, yet it would have been necessary to create a truly holistic Hogwarts experience. News recently broke of anew Harry Potter game calledQuidditch Champions, with this title dedicated to the sport perhaps giving clarity to its absence inHogwarts Legacy.
How Hogwarts Legacy’s Sequel Could Include Quidditch
Nothing is currently confirmed in relation to aHogwarts Legacysequel, although the success of the game could warrant another installment perhaps set in another time period. With the lack of Quidditch in the first game being a dedicated decision by Avalanche Software, it is unlikely that the sport will be a playable feature in a potential sequel. Despite this, there is a range of features that aHogwarts Legacysequelcould introduce to provide a great middle-ground for fans.
At the very least,Quidditch in aHogwarts Legacysequelshould at least be available as a spectator. Being able to watch teams engage in weekly practice and even compete against each other from the stands would make Hogwarts feel even more alive and breathing. Of course, this would also open up possibilities in the way of companion dates, or even quests where players can influence the outcomes of matches through nefarious or selfless acts.
This could then be complemented by a Quidditch league table that the player could view, with missed matches being simulated and added to the leaderboard. Crucially, this would give more meaning behindHogwarts Legacy’s house system, with the player having to work to help out their team as much as possible. Live matches could even be viewable from the sky, potentially allowing the player to fly around the Quidditch field from a sensible distance, watching the action unfold from up close. While it was disappointing but understandable that Quidditch was not inHogwarts Legacy, a sequel could do a lot to still give players a much-demanded experience of the sport.
Hogwarts Legacyis available now on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, with a Switch release scheduled for November 14th, 2023.
