Summary

It was recently announced that aHorizon Forbidden West Complete Editionwas launching, similar toHorizon Zero Dawn’s own, and it’s already out now on PS5. This edition packages the base game and its Burning Shores DLC into one, making it ideal for fans of the franchise who hadn’t already played the DLC or were waiting until a Complete Edition released to playForbidden Westat all. It’s finallygreat timing for aHorizonentry to come outas opposed to how its base games tend to launch alongside other highly anticipated competitors, though what’s more exciting is the announcement that it will eventually come to PC as well.

Horizon Forbidden West Complete Editionbeing out now on PS5 is great, but it’s also unsurprising due to the franchise’s exclusivity on PlayStation. If there was ever going to be an associable Complete Edition, it would obviously be arriving on PS5. However, manyPlayStation exclusiveshave begun making their way to PC, too, only much later than their original releases. Likewise, these PC ports are generally reserved until a game has all of its respective DLCs in order so that they can launch as a package, rather than as a base game that fans will need to pay more for in order to access all the same content.

Horizon Forbidden West Complete Edition on PC is the Whole Package

Horizon Forbidden West Complete Editiondoesn’t have a release date for PC yet, but knowing it is scheduled to arrive on PC anyhow is a massive boon. This knowledge could be the difference between fans deciding recklessly to purchase it on PS5 and choosing to wait once more if they believe they’d enjoy it more on another platform.

Indeed, many fans might not have a PS5, but because Burning Shores released not that long ago,the announcement of theHorizon Forbidden West Complete Edition’s PC portcould help tide them over until it inevitably releases. In the meantime, it is expected that theHorizonspin-off multiplayer game will also arrive on PC, which would make the platform a veritable home for theHorizonfranchise.Horizongames have been popular for consoles and will likely continue to release on PlayStation much sooner than PC due to that exclusivity, and yet it will soon be fully possible to have bothHorizongames on PC with all their related DLC.

This isn’t something onlyHorizonhas achieved, but it is notable as being more of a complete package sinceMarvel’s Spider-Man Remasteredcame packaged withMarvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales’ Ultimate Editionon PS5, for instance, but not on PC. So while not entirely novel, it will hopefully continue to pave the way for PC ports of PlayStation games arriving once all DLC is included to make it a fully comprehensive experience when PC players get their hands on them.

Horizon Forbidden West Complete Editionhad a fairly hushed announcement, though, and that hopefully won’t determine fans’ apathy toward such great incentives when PlayStation does decide to port its exclusives over to PC. If so, PC ports might simply go back to including minimal content with paid DLC slapped on top, let alone not releasing PC ports at all. Otherwise, lackluster PC ports like that ofThe Last of Us Part 1might’ve deterred fans from the idea.

Horizon Forbidden West Complete Editionis available now on PS5, with a PC port currently in development.
