Quick Links
Elden Ringis already a difficult game, with players trying their best to avoid getting hit by enemies and bosses to avoid direct health loss. Many enemies will also come with added status effects that can add another level of difficulty in combat, as the player now must juggle the build-up of that effect. There are many status effects inElden Ringthat players need to remember the effects of and how to combat them.
After the bar fills from astatus effect, it will instantly affect the player. Status effects can also be used by players to deal further damage to enemies and take advantage of weaknesses when applicable. One of these status effects is Madness, with it quickly causing a player’s death if they don’t combat it quickly enough.
How To Combat Madness In Elden Ring
Clarifying Boluses
Madness can be a dangerous stats effect as it targets the player’s health and FP. This stats effect takes effect instantly once the bar is full, so it’s important to try and combat it before the bar fills up fully. When Madness has already started to build up, players can use a Clarifying Bolus to reduce it. This item can be crafted after players obtain the Frenzied’s Cookbook (1) near the Frenzied Flame Tower.
AClarifying Bolus is crafted using 2 Dewkissed Herba, 1Crystal Cave Moss, and 1 Eye of Yelough. Players can also use the incantation Law Of Regression though it has a long cast time. Those with an intelligence build can utilize the spell Lucidity, which does have a shorter cast time than Law of Regression. The best option by far is to utilizeClarifying Bolusesthanks to their quick use.
How To Resist Madness In Elden Ring
Focus, Tarnished, Focus…
A player’s resistance to Madness is determined by their Focus. Thisresistance is increased when players level up their Mind stat. Lighter cloth armor or mage-like outfits tend to have a higher focus and further a player’s resistance to Madness. Players can also equip the Clarifying Horn Charm, which also increases Focus, but may require players to get moreTalisman Pouches inElden Ring. Players can further craft two items to briefly increase their focus and increase their resistance to Madness should the other options not fit their current build.
