In a post on Reddit, a user known as elveneye shared a picture that they recently completed. What made this piece of fan art unique was that it was a crossover between the worlds ofSkyrimandthefantasy epicLord of the Rings. In the stunning image, the artist drew Alduin wrapped around the top of Barad-dur, a giant tower seen inLord of the Rings.
Perhaps one of the most stunning aspects of the design was the Eye of Sauron atop the tower. Just as Alduin was the most dangerous creature inSkyrim, Sauron was the chief source of evil throughout theLord of the Ringsbooks. By including these villains in the same picture, elveneye managed to create a truly terrifying image. To finish off the fan art, the artist used dark shades of red to light the tower and the mirky clouds in the background. In addition, they utilized this red lighting to reveal the massive wings of Alduin, helping to show the scale of the dragon.
This breathtaking picture featuring Alduin perched atop of Barad-dur piqued the curiosity of numerous members of theSkyrimcommunity on Reddit. With over 1,800 upvotes in only a day, many were impressed with the design. Several fans commented that the image combined some of the best elements from both series. “As a big fan of both, this is really cool,” one person said. Besides commenting on the artwork, some debated the strength of Alduin compared to the dragons mentioned in the lore of Middle Earth.
Amazingly, players continue to make new creations based onSkyrimeven a decade after release. In addition to this fan art of the legendary dragon at Barad-dur, another person painted a picture ofAlduin flying across the starlit night skyof Tamriel. As people continue to play the game in the months ahead, it seems only a matter of time before even more impressive fan art is shared with the gaming community.
