Jurassic World Evolution 2 Game Modes
Returning toJurassic World Evolution 2are Challenge and Sandbox modes. In Challenge mode, players are given specific goals that they must complete under a given time. This mode also puts players' management and dinosaur care skills to the test, given that the time pressure requires players to think faster on their feet and solve management and dinosaur problems in the most efficient way possible. On the other hand, Sandbox mode allows players to build the park of their dreams without any pressing objectives and tasks. However, one thing players need to know about Sandbox mode is that while they are still required to complete several scenarios from other modes to unlock more areas, the first location is accessible right from the get-go.
Meanwhile, the Story Campaign is the mode that beginner players should tackle first, given that it is here where most of the mechanics are taught. Basically, Story Campaign is similar to the first game’s Career Mode, butJurassic World Evolution 2offers an original story setafter the events of theJurassic World: Fallen Kingdomfilm. In Story Campaign, players will lead the efforts of the DFW (Department of Fish and Wildlife), an organization trying to control, conserve, and contain wild dinosaurs rampaging all over the US. Story Campaign runs pretty short and can be completed in 2 hours or more, but this isn’t necessarily a bad thing, given that it puts more focus on the final mode in the game, Chaos Theory.
The Chaos Theory mode allows players to revisit pivotal moments from theJurassic Parkand World films to influence decisions that lead to several “what if” scenarios. Luckily for fans, Chaos Theory includes all movies in the franchise:Jurassic Park, The Lost World: Jurassic Park, Jurassic Park 3, Jurassic World, andJurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. Overall, the Chaos Theory mode adds an engaging gameplay style allowing players to influence some of the critical moments in these iconic films. Also, players can jump on one scenario anytime, even without completing others.
Jurassic World Evolution 2 Quality of Life Improvements
One of the highly-requested features fans have inJurassic World Evolutionis a deeper management system. In many ways,Jurassic World Evolution 2delivers just that, from dinosaur care, park management to constructing buildings. On the dinosaur side of things,Jurassic World Evolution 2features 75 species of dinosaurs that are now more life-like and realistic. However, at the expense of realism, these dinosaurs now require players to pay more attention to them as they are now prone to getting injured or sick. Players must also ensure that the environmental needs of dinosaurs are met, especially when mixing two or more species in a single enclosure.
In terms of park management,Jurassic World Evolution 2now allows players to hire scientists based on their skills and specialties individually. For example, one scientist will be more efficient in incubating dinosaur eggs, while the other could strike a better deal in acquiring fossils. However, scientists also require rest and cannot work around the clock. This means that players must manage tasks efficiently to ensure that each scientist doesn’t get burned out.
As far as park-building is concerned,Jurassic World Evolutionnow allows players to customize and personalize each building in the game. This feature comes in handy for players going after a specific aesthetic for their park, given that buildings can now be customized from their coloring to decorations. A new mechanic is also added in the form of internal amenities such as aquariums, arcade machines, and more. Players must now mix and match all these amenities to ensure that all four categories of guests are happy, increasing their park’s appeal.
Overall, the four game modes, along with the new features and quality of life improvements, makeJurassic World Evolution 2a better game than the original. While all these changes come with a cost and add up to the things players must micromanage,Jurassic World Evolution 2allows players to customize the game’s settings in Sandbox Mode from the level of money they start with dinosaur and guest behavior, weather patterns, and many more.
Jurassic World Evolution 2is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
