Multibillion-dollar media empires are not built overnight, so it’s no surprise to find out the MCU is the product of very careful planning over the last decade. So withMarvel’s Phase Four now unequivocally underway, Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige is keeping fans updated on his latest Multiverse meeting.

Although Marvel Studios’ original plan involved an entirely different release schedule for Phase Four’s early stage, the pandemic may have acted as a bit of a blessing for the MCU, asWandaVision,The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, andLokigave this batch of previously unexplored characters plenty of screen time to shine, withBlack Widowclosing out as the tried and tested performer. At the same time,Lokihas perfectly clarifiedWandaVision’s tiesto the multiverse.

With that in mind, in the D23 Inside Disney podcast, Feige recently comparedLoki’s finale to the moment Nick Fury was formally introduced to fans atthe end ofIron Man. “There’s interconnectivity there that people have already started to see and suss out,” Feige said. So he and the rest of the Marvel ream recently had a meeting about the rules of the Multiverse and how they can build on it to deliver on such hype. Feige showed his excitement over the kind of stories that the MCU can tell from now on based on the Multiverse concept, which was tamely introduced in the firstDoctor Strangemovie and as a misdirect inSpider-Man: Far From Home.

During his appearance, Feige even commented on the kind of excitement something likeLokihas been able to generate beyond hardcore Marvel fans, especially with the number of possibilities that are now open after the lid has been removed from the many timelines and universes teased by the show. Unsurprisingly, it’s the same Spider-Man and Doctor Strange duo who are tasked with moving the Multiverse plot forward in their respective upcoming sequels.

Considering Feige’s statements, the rumors behind a potential Loki appearanceinSpider-Man: No WayHomewould hold up well and also sit on top of the Scarlet Witch’s confirmed appearance inDoctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Simultaneously, besides all the reality-twisting affairs Loki and company will have to deal with, there’s also a ton of potential behind possible recruitment for the Thunderbolts,as seen inBlack Widow, and with John Walker being discarded from the Captain America role.

As if that wasn’t enough, the MCU will be even busier introducing new mysterious heroes inShang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten RingsandEternalsright beforeSpider-Man.So,like Feige has been saying, any Marvel fans out there have plenty of reasons to be excited.
