Jane Foster’s Mighty Thor (Natalie Portman) in the upcomingThor: Love and Thundermay not be the only alternate version of the God of Thunder to appear in the MCU. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has hinted at the possibility of several alternate Thors being included in future MCU projects.
WithFoster now wielding Mjolnirand knowing of the expansion of the multiverse (where several alternate versions of beloved MCU heroes are being introduced), the possibility of alternate Thors is very likely. Another version ofThornamed Throg, a frog version of Thor, was even briefly shown in Disney Plus’Lokiseries.

According to Slash Film, Feige believes that afterThor: Love and Thunder, fans could see plenty more versions of Thor. “There are these things called comic books that have a lot of stories in them. And that’s where all of our stories come from,” the Marvel Studios boss said at aThor: Love and Thunderpress conference. “And if the question is, ‘Have you told all the great horror stories from the comics and movies?’ The answer is no. There are lots of them. And I’ve always said our interest in making additional stories is somewhat about continuing the character. It’s almost entirely about continuing the experience with the actor and being able to see — I think of all of our cast not as their individual characters, but as the Marvel Players, who within that character can grow and evolve and change.”
“And if we look at the comics as our guide, there are plenty of other incarnations of Thor that we have yet to see,” Feige concluded. Because Phase 4 or 5 of the MCU isbelieved to culminate in aSecret Warsstoryline, which is a multiversal comic that has tie-ins with other miniseries likeThors(which featured several Thors from other universes such as Throg, The Mighty Thor, Ultimate Universe Thor, and Beta Ray Bill working as a police unit on Battleworld called Thor Corps), it’s very likely Feige’s comments will come to fruition. But until that happens, fans will just have to see whereThor: Love and Thundertakes the MCU next.
Following the events of 2019’s climacticAvengers: Endgame,Thor: Love and Thundersees the return of Chris Hemsworth as the God of Thunder while he is in search of inner peace and his true identity. However, when a new enemy emerges known asGorr the God Butcher(Christian Bale), Thor is forced to recruit many allies to prevent the Galactic threat from eliminating all gods.
Other than showcasing Foster taking up the mantle of the God of Thunder, the film will also explore more of Valkyrie’s (Tessa Thompson) rule as the new king of Asgard as well as the growing dynamic between Hemsworth’s Thor andChris Pratt’s Star-Lordand the rest of Guardians of the Galaxy group.Thor: Love and Thunderwill also see the return of Jaimie Alexander as Sif and Jeff Goldblum as Grandmaster.
Thor: Love and Thunderwill arrive in theatres on June 28, 2025.
